Doctors used to believe high HDL offset high LDL but recent studies show that’s not true. My last numbers were
Total 194
HDL. 68
LDL. 109
My doctor called and nearly went ballistic.
She told me she wanted those numbers down and to go on a low fat diet. I had been eating beef everyday to help increase my hemoglobin levels since I donate blood products twice a month which it did but shot my numbers up. I was advised to eat more fish. I manage to gag salmon down now and then but not enough to satisfy her. I switched to chicken so in July hopefully numbers will be better.
You should do everything possible to lower your numbers for your own good.
Take care
Jake

Foods like tofu, lentils, beans, soy milk, eggplant, okra, oatmeal, barley, nut butters, almonds, walnuts (all nuts) have a cholesterol lowering effect.
I have high cholesterol. Could not tolerate statins. Was untreated until Repatha came along. Injection which I give myself 2x/week.
