Anyone been dizzy the next day after taking Melatonin?

Yes. Melatonin 5-10 mg often leaves me very dizzy and tired. Sometimes with vertigo for an hour or more. I read last week in New York Tines that a prominent medical organization most knowledgeable about melatonin is urging consumers to not use this until significant ongoing testing is completed. I had stopped it a while back due to increasing negative reviews, and dizziness subsided. Due to serious sleep issues and because it has been around forever, I went back on it. Bad decision. I’m sitting here dizzy sick right now but got better enough to read Mayo connect and found your comment. It clearly reminds me it makes some people really dizzy and feeling very badly.

Welcome, Kevin. I like referring to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) website when searching for evidence-based information on supplements and complementary medicine.

Excerpt
"Is it safe to take melatonin?
For melatonin supplements, particularly at doses higher than what the body normally produces, there’s not enough information yet about possible side effects to have a clear picture of overall safety. Short-term use of melatonin supplements appears to be safe for most people, but information on the long-term safety of supplementing with melatonin is lacking."

Because melatonin use has increased in recent years, Mayo Clinic produced this helpful video with Dr. Naima Covassin, a researcher in Mayo Clinic's Cardiology Lab:

Kevin, have you tried a lower dose? What issues do you have with sleep?
