Trigeminal Neuralgia & Covid-19 shots
My wife suffers from Trigeminal Neuralgia and is concerned that having it would stop her from getting the Covid shot since she has read that with the Pizer shot people with Neurological disorders are advised not to get the injection. Thoughts?

Hi, Dave. I have TN (dormant at this point), and had the C-19 vax last month without any related issues. I was given the Moderna vaccine, but haven't heard anything linking the Pfizer (or J&J) shot with TN.
Suggest you do the research, and if you find any connection to TN with a particular vax, avoid registering your wife for it, and simply choose one of the others. Fortunately, she has options which are becoming more and more available.

1 ReactionHi Dave. My wife had a TN crisis 1 month after the 2nd dose of moderna, luckily it improved with gabapentin. How was your wife after the shot? I didn't know that it could trigger a neuralgia. Do you have any information or link about it? Thank you.
@larryg333 My wife was fine after her Moderna shot. No triggering of TN

must depend on a certain individuls under lying health issues
I have TN for the last 4 years and took the first 3 moderna vaccinations. Even if I am always sick, I didn't see and worsening due to the vaccinations.
By the way, I have heard that mayo has great teams of specialists that treat TN, has anyone treated by them and got well?

I spent a week at Mayo and no help just said sorry Trigeminal nerve pain is the worst and it will be 3 years soon

I am taking 800mg Tegretol and 300mg Lyrica and the pain is about 6/10. The side effects are bad. I have tried several other medications since the start of this condition in 2018
Been googling links between the Moderna shots and TN. Never had TN before, about 2 weeks after the 3rd Moderna shots, I started having severe headaches on the right side of the head (I already was on Gabapentin for nerve pain in my leg which might have delayed the debilitating head pains)
Went through several doctors, ER visits and diagnostics methods, only to end up with a diagnosis of TN, likely type 1 and 2 as there always is head pain 6/10 with episodes of 9/10. On Gabapentin (300mg) and Carbamezipine (800-1,000mg) which makes the pain manageable, but pain is now moving to the left side of the head as well.
Has anybody had TN which was caused by the vaccines?
