Before pregnancy i was diagnosed with mild gastoperises. For a few months the vomiting and discomfort wouldn’t go away. Then, it all got back to normal. But I lost a lot of weight and didn’t recover.
A year later I was pregnant. Through everything was bc of the morning sickness, but ended up with a Nj tube and tpn.
After pregnancy the vomiting continue I was in very bad shaped. After a few studies with one of these hospital in the state the only thing they found wrong with me was how fast my stomach was emptying to the small bowel.
They called them dumping syndrome. But I don’t have any symptoms of dumping syndrome. When it comes to diet I eat what I person with gastroperises eats. If I tried to follow a diet of a oedoja that has dumping syndrome I can really sick.
Meeting with my IG to discuss about coming to Mayo Clinic for a second opinion.
I’m desperate
Hi everybody,
I'd like to invite you to view this recently published post on the Connect "Gastroenterology & GI Surgery” Page. Madelynn Strong, clinical dietitian at Mayo Clinic, recommends strategies and foods that might help relieve symptoms of gastroparesis, and speed up gastric emptying.

@kanaazpereira thank you for the link! That’s pretty much the diet I’ve been following. Could you ask the dietician if she thinks it’s ok to eat high fiber veggies like beans if they are cooked until they are practically mush and then puréed ??? Or would that still be too much fiber for someone with Gastroparesis? I don’t want to ever have another bezoar.
I presume that it's preferable to actually cook (not steam) the vegetables in boiling water. I've already tried it and it's actually it's better for me (it "burns out" more of the fiber so it's a little more "soggy"). Believe me, I like to steam better after all these years but now I gotta go back to "old school" method.
I eat what I can tolerate. If it makes me sick I don't eat it again.
Thank you again @doodle75bug and
@kanaazpereira and @suemer and @astaingegerdm and @coquifoife and @hopeful33250 !
Before talking with y’all I had the impression that I couldn’t eat any high fiber foods. But apparently I can if they are cooked until they are very soft or put in a blender until they are the consistency of a smoothie.
Someone said they avoid woody vegetables. What are some examples of woody vegetables?
Also, could our moderator pass along to Mayo that a more in depth Gastroparesis diet on their website would be super helpful?
