Anyone tried CBD oil or medical marijuana for PMR?
I had such a bad day yesterday that I sent a note to my doctor about upping my prednisone (currently on 6 mg). Then I wondered, has anyone tried CBD oil or medical marijuana for PMR….

I thought I read that we should not take CBD. I don’t recall if it had to do with the PMR itself or the Prednisone. I sadly then stopped using my CBD oil which helped with anxiety
I have been taking .01 Th and 50mg of cbd to help me sleep and it has worked very well. Hope it continues. Take it 30 min. Before bed.
I've been taking CBD oil since 2018, but it did not mix well with the Prednisone, so I'm down to .01 (or even less). It was making me so "stupid" and very shakey. I wish it were not so, but as I continue to decrease the Prednisone, perhaps I will be able to increase the CBD oil.
I should have come back to report: that a mild case of COVID caused a flare. My CRP had more than tripled - so my dr upped my prednisone to 10mg for 2 weeks. Then I’ve begun an even slower taper: .5 mg every 2 months. She told me a slower taper reduced chances of a flare. I’ve been fine ever since. A little sad to be on prednisone another 3 years, though.
My PCP suggested trying CBD oil to ease the pain of my PMR. I tried it but found it was no help at all with any of the symptoms of my PMR. In my experience, prednisone is the only drug that offers the least bit of relief.
I take my pred. (12.5) in the morning after I have something to eat. Though I am achy I soon feeling some better. At bedtime I take a double dose of cbd tincture and that usually gets me through the night. It’s also a non steroid anti inflammatory and yet not hard on ones system like ISAIDs are. Sometimes if I’m extra achy I take a Vazalor at bedtime also. ( once every 4 or 5 days only) Sometimes I forget to take the cbd and I never have as good a night. I am paying closer attention to what I eat and find if I eat more sweets I “ pay” for it during the night. ( I take 100 mg cbd per 50 ml)
I take same thing to sleep. And it helps me!
Sorry to come to this discussion so late but I wanted to put in a good word for CBD because it has helped me quite a bit. I started taking it last fall after my CRP remained stubbornly elevated and my physician began talking about methotrexate. I didn’t want to go there. A friend is an advanced registered nurse practitioner with a specialty in geriatric medicine and cannabinoids. I had been taking a small amount of CBD but she suggested I up my dose to 100mg a day. It was quite effective with my pain. I was able to go off the Tramadal and use Aleve if I need too. My CRP has been in the normal range with a small flare in December that I attribute to an inadvertent drop in my THC. I did not think the THC was helping that much but I was wrong. I spent a day titrating up the THC and it worked. Now I take 100mg of CBD and about 15mg of THC with most of that at night (10mg).
CBD can be effective, IMHO. But the situation is so unregulated at the moment that it can be hard to know what you are getting. A lot of CBD is contaminated. It’s a shame because I believe cannabinoids can help PMR, among other ailments.
I am at 2mg of medrol every other day. I see my doctor in a week or so and expect she will adjust the medrol down. She is aware of my CBD/THC use and is quite interested in my progress.
