To those hoping to grow more or less, don't give up hope because growth is so individual. My mother was 5' 7" and my father was 6' 0". My two brothers ended up 5' 10" and 6' 5". Both stopped growing around 19. The one that was 5' 10" was always the smallest kid in his class (but the best athlete) and several inches shorter than me for years even though he was 2.5 years older. When he was 14, he was only 4' 10". He said he used to pray that he would at least make it to 5' 0". Suddenly in high school he just started taking off and grew another foot in just 4-5 years. The day he outgrew me, his little sister, was the best day of his life. I was so happy for him.
I'm female and when I was 11, I was the tallest girl in my class at 5' 3". There was one other girl that was 5' 3". When I ran into her in college, she was still 5' 3" and I was 5' 8.5". I was so surprised, but then I remembered she was the only girl in 5th grade that really needed a bra so I guess she just matured and grew up early.
So this was my growth by age:
11 - 5' 3"
13 - 5' 6"
14 - 5' 8"
15 - 5' 8.5"
My cousin who was the same age as me and always 2" shorter suddenly passed me up. She was 5' 6" at 14 and 5' 9.5" at 15.
Some people just grow faster than others. My son was always the tallest kid in his class and ended up 6' 3" when he stopped growing at 18 or 19. Again, I'm 5' 8.5" and his dad is 5' 9". So you just never know. Stay healthy, get lots of sleep, eat well, exercise reasonably and you'll fish your wish! But also remember that height doesn't define who you are so be happy however tall you end up. 🙂 My brothers were 7" apart and one was just as successful and happy as the other.
I’m 14 almost 15 and I’m 5’7. My dad is 6’4 mom is 5’7, and my older brother (19) is 5’11. I grew a pretty standard rate from grade 7 until now grade 9. I never hit a growth spurt where I was growing like crazy for a period of time before. Only one small spurt last summer for like 2 weeks. I haven’t grown a lot since then maybe about an inch all school year. Now knowing my factors, genes, and growth patterns, will I grow anymore?
I am 15 and almost turning 16. I'm 5'10, my dad is 59, and my mom is 5'3. Do I have the chance to grow 6'+? I still don't have facial hair, but I have public hair and a little underarm hair.
Hi, im 15, boy. Im really short- about 158/9 and i havent grown with some pubic hair. Although my dad is 175 cm and my mom 165 my brother grew to 180. I feel like i wont grow anymore.
Hi my name is jay and I’m about 5’6 my mom is about 5’6 1/2 and my dad is about 5’8/5’9 and I feel like I’m not done growing because I haven’t hit a growth spurt yet but most of the males in my family range from5’8-6’1 and the women range from 5’2-5’6. I was told that I would be around 5’10-6’0 I work out 4 times a week I kinda eat healthy( I have my days) i think the last time I grew was maybe around 1-2 years ago. I had facial when I was about 14 Is there anything i can do to help my growth?
Hi I recently turned 14 and I am 5’7 and I haven’t grown in the past 5 months my dad is 5’9 or 5’10 and my mom is 5’2 am I growing or have I finished growing
I hit puberty really young, when I was 7 or 8? Unfortunately, during that era eating disorders were like crazy popular so I didn’t eat as much as I should’ve because I thought it was hip and trendy, I had like 4 cucumbers a day plus dinner then that was it. I was always tall, but once I reached 5’1 I stopped growing. I was disappointed since my sisters, grandmothers and other female family members on my dads side are super tall, but I chalked it up to the fact that I must’ve inherited my moms side of the family’s height since they’re all a little short (5’3 and under). However, I started to notice that my body wasn’t changing AT ALL. My breasts have stayed the same size (something like 38A?) and are still that weird torpedo shape that early puberty boobs usually are. I find this really strange since quite literally all the women on both sides of my family have large breasts (all of them are C cups or above, even like my ancestors had pretty big melons) My fat distribution also didn’t change, whenever I gain weight it’s only in my stomach, not my legs or my butt which is eher I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to go during puberty. Is it over for me?
Im 16 years and 9.5 months old and a Junior in High School and currently 5’7.5 in height. But the problem is I’ve been 5’7.5 since I was 12 years old in the 7th grade. I never really had a growth spurt I just grew large at a young age, in the 5th grade I was about 5’4 and in the 6th I was about 5’6, and then I reached 5’7.5 once i entered 7th grade. I was the biggest and tallest kid on most of my basketball teams and classes, as the grades progressed I seen my friends gradually surpass me in height and before I knew it my friends were 6’2, 6’3, 6’4, and some even 6’5. Now I’m pretty sure it’s not because I stunted my growth or anything. I started lifting weights at 14 years old once I became a freshman in high-school, I never drank coffee, and I’ve never done anything that could prevent me from growing. When I was 12 I asked the Doctor how tall I would be and she said 6’5 based off the rate I was growing and my Father being 6’2 and my Mother being around 5’6/5’7. Most of my friends who are taller than me by a large margin have parents shorter than mine. Now I understand I could’ve possibly started puberty early because I have a lot of body hair under my arms and on my stomach, but I find it hard to believe that I really just stopped growing at 12 years old…. Is there any possible way I will ever grow again I am going on 5 years without growing?!
I want to know if i am still growing, my dad is 6’2 and my mom is about 5’6, the doctors said i could be about 6’4 to 6’5 when im older because i had really long legs as a baby and etc. is this possible? and or (true)

First I want to say how impressed I am that you are taking good care of your body with a healthier diet and improved sleep.
5’10”” is a good height at this stage of your late onset puberty- also considering your parents’ adult heights.
You probably will continue a slow growth still- it is difficult to be specific.
The most accurate prediction can be offered by Pediatric Endocrinologists. They often do an X-ray of a wrist to see if the growth plates are closed or not. They also calculate your final growth by looking at your family as a whole.
