Transplant: No or Few Antibodies after COVID Vaccination
My daughter received a kidney from her father 15 months ago. She is participating in the Johns Hopkins study of transplant patients undergoing vaccination. The study required that she be tested for antibodies just before she received her second shot. The test results showed that she had no antibodies to Covid-19. I wonder if anyone else on this list is participating in the Hopkins study and can share their experience. I know the study will be asking participants to repeat the antibody test four of five more times over the year after being fully vaccinated. Thank you

@pinkpam - Wonderful!!
I would remain masked, too. Even before Covid, we transplant folks needed to take extra precautions. But you already know that with your 23 years experience. ❤
A quick question: Are you still under the supervision of your transplant team? Did they have any input nto this 'no mask' comment?
Hi Rosemary, I am still being watched under the Mayo transplant team. I did not ask them about nor am I going to bother them about the "no Mask" comment - I am still Shocked that a local Nephro. would say that. Sheees - over the years I've learned over and over again you have to be your own advocate and know what is best for your body. I'll never forget - I was about to have another surgery (can't remember which one - so many). Dr AMayo comes in with students (3) showing off - we are going to do this, that, how, why, what not - tried to interrupt him a couple of times. Finally he runs down and says how do that sound - I said I'm not doing a DAMN thing until I get Lab results that show my Potassium is back up to normal - . He swallowed some crow 🙂
