Can I still cycle while on omeprazole with LPR & MAC?
Hello All - Will attempt to simplify complicated issues! I have bronchiectasis and MAC with recent lung function, culture, and CT scan results declining. I am an avid cyclist. My Denver doc (who is retiring) believes I have silent reflux and combined with cycling, has led to my lung situation. Due to super inflamed throat, ear, nasal area, along with voice fatigue (LPR symptoms), I've been prescribed 6 weeks of Omeprazole/Famotidine by my ENT.
My questions:
*Are there any other cyclists out there, and what is your experience? (It's been suggested I quit cycling)
*Thoughts on short term use of Omeprazole/Famotidine in relation to MAC and/or rebound effect?
*Alternatives to the 3 drug treatment you've experienced that seem to work? (Doc indicates treatment with the 3 drugs may be near...)
Thanks so much for the combined wisdom of this group!

Hi pop55, I also have Gerd(reflux) and take Prevacid generic(Lansoprozol) at night before eating. Helps control coughing. I also get sinus infections regularly. I am convinced that MAC, GERD and Sinus Infections are all connected. Thinking about getting my Air Ducts cleaned.
That is ok - it guaifenesin is an expectorant. But the 400 must be taken every 4-6 hours to be most effective. That is why my doctors recommend Mucinex 600mg LA (long acting) - you only need to use it twice a day. To keep cost down, I order it in large quantities on Amazon.
After you new, if you do airway clearance with huff coughing or a device, it should help clear out your throat so you don't cough constantly.

Hi,
I’m looking for natural replacement of my gerd medication, omeprazole and pantoprazole.Thank you for help.
Try Acidil -homeopathic and quite helpful in settling symptoms
Can buy online or In stores
Acidil is a homeopathic product that has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration for safety or efficacy. FDA is not aware of scientific evidence to support homeopathy as effective.
Stop use and ask a doctor if symptoms persist for more than 7 days or worsen. If you have trouble swallowing or persistent abdominal pain, see your doctor promptly.
Thank you very much dulwich,I will try.
@ Colleenyoung - Thanks so much - helpful feedback!
I appreciate everyone's input on this thread - thank you! I feel I've finally embraced, and accepted, that silent reflux has played a part in my MAC. I'd been through complex testing at both Mayo and NJH for GERD that proved "negative," so it was hard to accept this was an issue. But silent reflux is different! I found the Acid Watcher Diet book at the library and will read up. Have also made adjustments to my cycling routines. Hoping for positive results... thank for your suggestions!
