Appetite stimulants: Has anyone tried anything that works?
Has anyone tried anything that works -and that doesn’t have side effects?! Have tried Xyprexia. Horrible druggy side effects. Now tried Remeron and have slept almost 20 out of 24 hours?! Would prefer something ‘natural’, but just want something that works!! Thanks-.

I was caring for a cancer patient that had that same issue. The appetite stimulants had too many side effects. We then tried Simpson Oil which is a marijuana product (be careful, though, you have to get a THC marijuana product). Anyway, she did not like the feeling of taking a marijuana product. We then found out, from a friend, that she could take Simpson Oil as a suppository and that way she had the appetite stimulating benefits without the high feeling. She had no noticeable side effects. We got it from a medical marijuana dispensary. I then got gelatin capsules and put a measured amount in each capsule and she would take them as a suppository. It really did seem to work. She was very hesitant to try it because she saw marijuana as something bad, but it really did seem to help with no noticeable side effects. I work with another cancer patient now that just takes a tiny drop of Simpson Oil (sometimes known as RSO) under his tongue.
My appetite totally disappeared. I was losing weight and my weight decreased to 71 # from 108 # which is my normal weight. After much reading and research, i asked my doctor about Megace. He gave me a prescription for Megace and when I went to fill the prescription, the price was ridiculous! It was $1,800.00 at every pharmacy. (I don't have medication insurance). Then, I looked into the generic form of Megace and it was much more reasonable at $40.00. I started my generic Megace and my appetite came back full force! I found myself eating like a Trojan horse! I am now 6# away from my goal of 108# and I might try to go even a little higher than that!
Are there different ‘grades’ or ‘qualities’ of Simpson Oil? Do you know where I can purchase it? Amazon I spose as a go to?? MANY thanks!!!
Well…we also have an Rx for Megastrol/Megace. Dr said it uiybwpuld know if it’s working after a few days-. I was hesitant to fill the Rx (a) because I wanted to try the Remeron first. (2) because the Dr asked ‘Are you still on blood thinners?’ He didn’t say anything, but I have read there’s a chance of blood clots with Megastrol/Megace??? The ‘eating like a Trojan horse sounds very encouraging!! Thank you!! -How long did it take to work?
@nrocpop i can’t find a place to purchase Simpson oil?! Suggestions?
I regret to say that I am not sure, assuming you live in Minnesota. I live in Michigan and come to Minnesota for some medical care. In Michigan, before recreational marijuana was legal, I was able to get a medical marijuana card from a doctor (well, the patient had to get that). I could then get a caregiver card and go to a medical marijuana dispensary to get it. They often know it as RSO (Rick Simpson Oil). It is highly concentrated THC. In the dispensary here they were very helpful. I discovered that there is a doctor's office next to the dispensary that will help you get the medical marijuana card. That may be the case in Minnesota. I did not use that approach because the oncologist filled out the paperwork for the patients I dealt with.
I doubt you can get it on Amazon, but I don't know. There were a couple of different manufacturers, but real RSO follows a specific "recipe"/procedure
@nrocpop After doing some investigating I see this! Do you know the THC mg or dosage to use? It’s not as straightforward as I expected-. I hate to think of using Megastrol instead-. More pharma chemicals-. 🙁
It seems like very shortly. Maybe a week or so?
The people at the medical marijuana dispensary were very helpful. They can advise on taking it orally. If you try the suppository method, I am not sure any more. I would try looking up Rick Simpson Oil on Google or something
