Severe Back, Groin, Hip pain
A couple of years ago my otherwise healthy mother woke up one morning with severe groin, hip, back and groin pain. She has shooting pains that make it nearly impossible for her to get around. She's had a back operation, a hip replacement, physical therapy and other treatments. The current thinking is that she may have arthritis in her spine.
Does anyone have suggestions? Her (many) doctors are not coordinated but they are engaged and running low on ideas.
Tks,
Eric

Thank you! I'll let her know and she may be in touch.
To everyone suffering with chronic pain. You ever feel like a human medical/ science experiment. Is this really the best medicine has to offer? Drs are so busy trying to cure everything. I guess it's the training. Ok sure that's a great goal. In the meantime, we have narcotics that block the pain and a confused government. Of course, we don't want to create addicts. Is leaving people to hate living life, wishing they were dead and hoping to not wake up in the morning, because they know how miserable their life is the right thing to do? Where is the kindness and mercy in that?
Yes, I am troubled by the 10% of people who do things for the wrong reasons. I am more troubled that we are allowing that 10% to prevent the other 90% from having a better life. I could go metaphorically off the deep end here. The truth is accidents happen; preventable loss of life is tragic.
How many more of the still living we will make suffer because of this? "Someone died from drowning. Are we going to outlaw swimming"
Let us be bold and treat the 90% so they can sleep and when they wake up they can face the day and LIVE.
With my research about my recent hip pain I found that her hip replacement mght have been pulled out by strong muscles, injuring the surrounding soft tissues and tendons . There are MRI machines that can be used to assess.
I was just diagnosed with pagets in my spine and 3 ribs. I hurt all the time. I live in the US. Trying to find dr who can help. I am going to physical therapy to keep moving.
Hello @michelle10, welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I thought you may also want to check out this discussion since you mentioned having Paget's:
"Paget's disease of the bone and other inflammatory issues" -https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/pagets-disease-of-the-bone
My husband was diagnosed 2+ years ago with Paget’s, we live in Illinois and he sees Dr Reddy Hinsdale Illinois
She has helped him tremendously.
He has an infusion of Remicade twice so far and now we are on year 3 with no need to infuse. His pain is well under control and his bloodwork is well within normal range now.
His Paget’s is in hip right hip and 3 spots on his ribs. (One new spot last year on his 8th rib rear is new but minuscule in size comparison to his hip) I pray this information helps you!
Thank you. I am still looking for specialist. I don't even know how much the bone are effectived. I just know my back and deep in my armpits hurts ll the time. And bones are tender
His dr is an Endocrinologist, he originally saw an oncologist because they initially thought he had cancerous lesions, then she refered him to the endocrinologist!
I went to one felt like it was a bother to him. Did a bone density test,my four arm is the most elected. Just waved the result at us and said he set a time for recast, when I told him I already did it a week ago he shrugged his shoulders.
