One year longhauler still struggling with lungs: What works for you?

Posted by doodleslb @doodleslb, Feb 10, 2022

I still struggle with my lungs. The cold air gets in my lungs. They get cold. It takes hours to warm my body back up. I lay on a heating pad for hours to get my feet and hands and body warm. I raise my arms over my head I can breath afterwards. The oxygen in my lungs doesn’t get enough. I get foggy brain. Been doing PT for a year. Just started water aerobics. I fine that I loose my breath and get brain fog. And my muscles shake for hours afterwards. And my body gets very cold. Many more things.

I’m so sorry you are having these experiences. I have a similar experience but I live in Florida. Wool socks , under armor sells cold gear thin layers that can keep you warm. They also sell gloves that have a compartment for hot hands. Also wearing a mask over your mouth in the cold helps retain heat. It’s also important to wear a hat. The majority of your body heat escapes from your head feet and hands.

A warm shower or bath will heat your body up quicker. Windbreakers also help in cool weather too. Hot drink are not as helpful. Warm drinks are better. Your body has to use energy to cool the hot drinks.

Wool anything keeps you warm and helps you warm back up.

I also found that dramatic changes in temperatures are worse. So be mindful and take care.

They also sell vests that are like heated blankets.

@doodleslb, good for you for starting water aerobics. If I were feeling cold all the time, I would have a hard time to get into a bathing suit and into the water, even though I love water aerobics. Have you found the exercise to be helpful in regulating your body temperature? Is it helping the breathing too?
