Do you use a Wellness Journal?

Posted by liz58 @liz58, Jan 25, 2022

Does anyone use a wellness journal/planner? I'm using a paper. A calendar . I was wondering if there is a better way to plan my week. I googled it so everyone wants to sell me one and most are $30

@liz58, I like free myself unless it's something really unique and it fits the just got to have it category. A lot of times I will just use Notepad on my computer to create to do lists, planning projects (don't do too many anymore!) and miscellaneous tasks. Have you thought about using your computer, tablet or smart phone to keep a wellness journal?

@liz58, this is a great topic for any health and wellness goals, but especially for tracking and planning recovery after COVID. I think fellow members like @teacherwife74 @welchllb @lolaemma @baker00l @ldropps @ebergfeld @tolson24 @jennifergillan03 @rinadbq @rpjsnehalata @saraguev might have tips to offer or wish to learn more.

Liz, what type of things would you like to track and plan in a Wellness Planner?

I like the concept of a wellness journal. My Wife is in constant pain after the second Phizer shot (at least that's when the symptoms started). Tracking you daily activities as well as the pain may help shed some light on activities or foods that trigger the pain.

Good Luck Liz and thanks for posting! 🙂

Liz, I use Word on my computer to journalize. Daily, I enter things I've done, my body's reaction and also, things I want to accomplish. It's worked well for me as a reference, too. I enter web links and articles that I want to save. Trouble is, it's way too long. ...since August 2020. You can word search on Word, enabling quick reference on particular topics. Incidentally, my username is wrong - only one "L".
Hope this explanation helps. Lucy

At the moment I am just using paper. It's a chart that I modified from what I received at the Mayo. My wellness goals are to spread out what I do each week. I used to be able to shop at four stores at a time, but now I focus on one or two. It's frustrating, but probably saves me money 🙂 I haven't been at a specialty shop in over a year. I just mainly focus on necessities.

Laura, would you be willing to take a picture of your modified chart? It might be helpful for others to see a blank version (without your personal info in it).

I might also suggest buying a paper agenda/calendar. It's still January, so 2022 calendars should still be available to buy (and on sale perhaps). I like versions that allow space for notes. I set a monthly and/or weekly intention of what I hope to achieve - a goal. Because I don't really like tracking stuff in general, I try to keep my daily tracking very simple.

For each day, I mark 2 things. 1) a score out of 10 on my success in managing my goal and 2) an emoji for how I felt overall that day, happy face, straight line face or sad face.
If there was something specifically noteworthy like a new symptom or trigger or a new milestone, I'll write that down too.

Key for me is to keep it simple and consistent so I can eventually pick out the patterns.

What approach works for you guys? What's your goal this week?

This is what I got from the Mayo. I made my own with wider spaces to write. I include plenty of rest time and try to not get discouraged if I have to rearrange my day. I've gotten pretty good a spreading everything out so I don't crash. It's been two weeks since I've needed a nap which is progress for me.
