Anyone experienced nipple soreness post menopause?
I am 58, post menopausal. Within about the last week my nipples have become tender, similar to how it used to feel before or on my period. They also are more flat, and the aereola is less pink than normal. They used to change with temperature, but now seem to be more flattened out in general. I don't feel sick otherwise, and am not on any medications. Anyone out there who has experienced this kind of change or tenderness?

Hi Lucy, “Menopause is officially confirmed if it has been 1 year since your last menstrual period” I hope all is well🙏😊

Have you had any issues with menopause?
Upon waking yesterday I noticed my nipples were quite sore & breasts only slightly tender. I was also a little nauseous. I’m post menopausal I have Gerd/taking Dexilant & I have low Iron & was taking Ferrous sulphate pills & recently started taking Ferrous Sulphate Heptahydrate (liquid form)
I was told I had thyroid issues (not enough for pills at the time) when I was younger and that I needed to check it yearly. -haven’t checked for some time.
Hi everyone,
I am having this happen too. I've been wonderfully postmenopausal for five years. Now, I feel like I am about to start my period! My nipples are super sore (no breast tenderness though), fatigued, HUNGRY, mild tightening in my lower stomach...all the symptoms I don't miss! What is going on? The only change in my life is that I had Covid a little over a month ago. Covid wasn't terrible at all, but I do wonder if it is impacting our hormones (as many of you have also suggested). Totally confused but I hope this goes away soon. I don't miss it!
I’m 54, 3 years post menopause, last week I experienced sore tender nipples and 2 days ago I began spotting with more progression today. I went to Emergency immediately. Doctor only did blood and urine tests saying all was “beautiful “ and sent me home with no explanation but a promise to order an ultra sound. It feels like a period and I feel perfectly fine. How worried should I be?
I'm sorry that you were patted on the bum and sent home. That never should have happened. It must also be frustrating that at 54 you are experiencing these symptoms. I got cramps for a long time. Oh, and yes, hot flashes! I still say to make an appointment with your gyny and have a long talk with her.

When was your last visit with your gynecologist?
My last pap was good last year. I had an ultrasound a week ago and they found fatty liver and then this happens. I’m contacting my doctor Monday and requesting an in person appointment with an examination. Everything is by phone so they referred me to emergency when it first happened. Hopefully now that I went and had no answers they’ll see me in person.
Please keep me updated. We put up with so much! I'm concerned that they will brush you off again. Will you be able to stop them from doing that?
Yes I think so. I worked with Public Health for many years so I have a good relationship with my doctor.
I think, nipple sourness is caused by hormones mostly (estrogen and/or progesterone). I am an intersex woman, and I never menstruated or had a meaningful menopause. But I am taking those hormones since ever and for ever, because my body cannot produce them on its own. Each time when I place my weekly estrogen shot, I experience nipple sourness about a day or two later, lasting for one or two days. You might want to get your hormones checked to make sure everything is OK.
