The Right Diagnosis: H. Pylori infection

Posted by kidprodigy @kidprodigy, Jul 26, 2020

Howdy, Ya'all!

I want to let you know that I finally have the RIGHT diagnosis. I'm on Day 10 of the 14-day treatment plan for my H. Pylori bacterial stomach infection and I feel fantastic! The abdominal pain, nausea, loss of appetite, fatigue and weight loss are almost a thing of the past. I've gained 2 lbs of body weight since I began treatment 9 days ago! I feel like I've been given a whole new body and a second chance at life!

Thank you all for your support during this challenging, 10-month long living Hell that I wouldn't wish upon even my worst enemy.

Kid Prodigy, I would be interested to know all your symptoms. I have been diagnosed with GERD and have come a long way since all this first started in May 2019. Been on Omeprazole 40 MG twice daily almost a year now. I still have chest heaviness and difficulty at getting that free breathing feeling and yes alot of times it is after eating but no always. I had a sinus infection 2 weeks ago and was given an antibiotic and I swear I almost felt normal again. But here we are 2 weeks later and feeling the same.

Go for the bacteria test for a confirmation and change your diet

Here is the drug, my doctor prescribed me.
The most annoying thing about my case was that i was having chest tightness/pressure that looked like angina/heart related stuff. This was esophagus spasm due to my damaging esophagus.
I feel really great now, my body is healing

This is what 1 day of the 10-day Pylera (bismuth quadruple therapy) treatment regimen looks like. I’ll take 3 capsules with meals 4 times per day in addition to 1 capsule of omeprazole 2 times per day. Each capsule contains a combination of tetracycline, metronidazole and bismuth.

What to eat while taking tetracycline, metroDianozle,
and omerprazole

Hello everyone, my daughter began suffering from very specific symptoms 3 years ago after a trip to Mexico. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, weight loss, chronic/debilitating fatigue, spontaneous uticaria wheals (skin rash), chronic acne after 2 rounds of failed Accutane. After multiple doctor visits over 3 years, too many tests to list, so many blood vials drawn I am surprised she has any blood left. WE FINALLY HAVE A DIAGNOSIS!!!! The original endoscopy showed Eosinophilic esophagitis EOE of an unknown origin. Original biopsies were negative for H. Pylori. 2 years later they did a repeat endoscopy and her biopsy is positive for H. Pylori. I am praying she will improve over the next 2 weeks. Never give up, there is a diagnosis out there, you have to keep looking.

I am very happy for you. My daughter has spent the last 3 YEARS searching for answers. She finally got her diagnosis yesterday of
H. Pylori. I almost burst into tears when the doctor called. We are looking forward to what the next 2 weeks will bring. Reading your story is very encouraging. I am praying for a new life for her. Thank you for sharing.

Hi @bkarateew I am so happy that your daughter was finally diagnosed correctly. You'll see I moved your post to a discussion where one of our members went through the same thing. We tend to group like posts together so the members can connect and bond over shared experiences.

Do the doctors have an explanation as to why it took so long to positively diagnose her?

We’re these Doctors from Mayo? I have been told they will not due a virtual appointment for GI . Cost of flights hotels meals doesn’t seem feasible.
Every test possible has been done including biopsies over the years. Chronic pain, fatique , weight loss with no RX effective.
7 doctors all say IBS
Praying for you all !

how long after treatment completion before being re-tested for conformation?

I had H Pylori and acid reflux along with a bleeding ulcer.
Don't take any ibuprofen as it causes bleeding.
No eating 3 hrs before bedtime .
Low acid diet only.
