Anyone been to Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL?
Has anyone been to the Jax Mayo Neurology department to see a neurologist and if so what was your experience and feedback regarding the Neuro doctors?
I have a first time appointment at this Neurology dept at Mayo in March with a Neuro doctor. Any feedback is appreciated. The Mayo clinic in Jacksonville is far from my house and with gas and food expenses, needing to get a hotel room etc it will be a very costly trip for me.

Congratulations on your appt with the neurology department at Mayo. I know you’ve been suffering for several years and hoping to get appointment.
Have you set up your patient portal yet? It will be the key to all your communication with your team.

You’ll need your patient ID number to set up the account. Once there, you’ll be able to see your appointments, the date, time and location of each. Also, it will tell you the name of your provider.
Are you all set with lodging?
Oh, Joanne, I’m so glad you’ve got an appointment! @loribmt is a veteran of Mayo Clinic so she’s a great resource! Will you let us know how it goes and what you learn?
The two appointments I had in August and September were very professional and pleasant. The Neurologist appointment was in August and the radiologist appointment was in September. They both were on time, no waiting.
Hi! I have not been to the neurology department but I have been to cardiology and radiology and lab several times. All departments were great, appointments on time and my doctor never made me feel rushed or unimportant. I have been to Mayo in Rochester also for surgery and without a doubt would recommend Mayo to anyone. My husband is an internal medicine physician and he was equally impressed with both places. There are several hotel choices nearby in Jacksonville, I recommend also telling the desk you are a Mayo patient, some hotels may offer a discount. I know all my appointments have always been scheduled as one or two days they are busy days but everything is done together so that your stay there is minimized if you are traveling- which I really appreciated. Best wishes!

I have day surgery there on the 11th. My daughter, who was to come along, has Covid. This means, I have nobody to bring me to the hotel I am staying in, and the hotel has no shuttle. Is there any service that I can hire that brings me to the hotel? There is all kinds of help in Rochester, but I have never been in Jacksonville, and I don't know what to do?
@lindes, There is another discussion - Traveling Alone to Mayo Clinic Jacksonville where @lmindela mentions a nursing and companion service you can hire called GOMO; https://gomotravel.com/. He also mentioned that you can contact Kerri Johnson at (904) 395-7500. --- https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/652806/
Do you think this is something that might be helpful?
Yes, this might help. I hope it works out, otherwise I have to cancel this very needed surgery.
Hoping your upcoming trip and surgery will be a good one and you will be able to share some tips from your trip.
Welcome Ron. May I ask what condition led you to neurology?
A mengeanoma tumor on the brain
