Seizures change and auras change too?
My auras have always been intense fear with a racing heartbeat. In my late 50s they became a combo of intense fear with racing heart beat and de'javu experiences. Two years ago the de'javu experiences stopped. Now one night I had just a racing heartbeat. Just like when I have a seizure. There was a little bit of fear at the end of the racing heart beat. My doctor will not increase my Zonisamide as I requested and I don't see her until January. Because I am going to get a new neurologist I may as do so before then and discuss the matter with them. Next month I see my new PCP but I think she is too new to my case to discuss it with her. I've only seen her once.

Hi Dave,
I have a few acquaintances who had seizures (Tonic-Clonic/Grand Mal) within 30 minutes of receiving the vaccine. Of course those seizures may have happened anyway but it is very coincidental.
I was holding off getting the vaccine with concerns of potential Neurological side effects which my doctor said were justified. But I got it with no sore arm or anything else.
As you probably know seizures do change and although the episode you experienced may have been triggered by the vaccine it's also possible it wasn't.
It sounds to me like you may have had a Focal Impaired seizure.
Are you photo-sensitive? I would definitely mention it to your Neuro.
Hang in there,
Jake

Jake,
I saw my new neurologist and I got the increase in Zonisamide that I wanted!!! It took a while for that to happen. I could celebrate not seeing a controlling neurologist again. It is close to a year since my last seizure now! The last one was April 2021.
Take care,
Laurie

Congrats on your new neuro and the Zonisamide. Your last neuro seemed to be unreasonable to me. I'm sorry they subjected you to so much grief. My neuro always treats me as a patient but also as a person who respects and considers my opinions. I think your new neuro will be a winner but it's still going to take time.
April is right around the corner. Hopefully, your seizures are under control and a thing of the past. Just for good measure be sure to insist on the same manufacturer on your refills.
Glad things are better,
Jake
