Oncotype dx and Mammaprint discordance early stage breast cancer

Neither of these test existed when I was diagnosed, but you might check out this discussion or some of the members here and see if they have some ideas about this.

I had grade 3, LVI but low Oncotype of 8 with risk halved by Femara. (Thirty percent of grade 3's have low Oncotype.) Breast Cancer Index at year 5 showed high risk at 5.5% (just over the line and not too different from Oncotype), and low effectiveness of meds. The Prosigna had me at high risk at 10%, 5 years out. You can call each test company to discuss. It's tough that they don't agree.

Are you ER+ or ER-, HER+ or HER- ?? Oncotype gives a graded scale of risk broken up into low, intermediate, and high risk categories, whereas MammaPrint is either low or high risk. Oncotype is applicable only to estrogen receptor (ER)–positive tumors; MammaPrint can be used for both ER-positive and ER-negative tumors.Aug 25, 2016

Thank you! I did contact Mammaprint who explained that they review other factors and that their test should be trusted. I will contact Oncotype Dx and am currently scheduled for BCI test. Thank you again.

The BCI people said that Oncotype counts cars on the highway, so to speak, and the BCI looks at how fast they are driving. Or something like that! They all look at different genomic factors. I also got to Prosigna Assay.

That makes sense. I assume Mammaprint is also looking at how fasr hence being reclassified as high risk.
