Your post struck a chord with me because I have been having these internal vibrations for about eight weeks now and tinnitus as well. I began to notice a low level humming sound in my ears. At first I thought it was something outside of me. I live in a multi-occupancy house and there are five apartments. I wondered if one of my neighbours had installed something that caused these vibrations and sounds. The people living above and below me said they could not hear anything and hadn't experienced any vibrations.
I thought it may have been my refrigerator causing the problem, but the sound was not quite the same. Coming home one night I noticed this same humming as I walked up the road to the house. I had just come back from visiting a friend in London. I was passing by a building owned by the water company and thought it was coming from there. I wrote to the council about it. I then contacted my landlord's agent to see if they had any ideas.
It was only when I heard the humming while I was at a friend's house that I began to realise it was coming from inside me and that my tinnitus had returned after about thirty years. I also experienced these vibrations when I was sitting down outside on a park bench. I can only feel them in my backside then, instead of in my abdomen where I mostly feel them. They are not so bad at night time now, but still bother me in the early hours of the morning while I am in bed and about to wake up. I am assuming there is a connection between the vibrations and the tinnitus, since they both started at the same time, but I am not certain.
I saw a doctor, arranged through my local NHS surgery practice, but she was very dismissive about it and put it down to anxiety or stress. I don't believe that because there is nothing I can pinpoint in my life that I feel anxious about! Since retiring last year I have been feeling pretty relaxed. Her advice was to listen to relaxing music and have more hot baths!
I havn't had a good night's sleep since this started. Three mornings during the week I keep busy by doing voluntary work alongside others so I don't notice the tinnitus. I live in the UK.
Hi there I am also a Navy officer and have not retired yet. But was wondering if you ever got looked at further for this or if you got a diagnosis. I am and have experienced the same thing.
My story is near same. I started experiencing this a few weeks post-Covid in January 2022. I searched my whole house, checked appliances, replaced the exterior HVAC unit, sealed the windows and more. Low frequency related fan noise amplified the situation for me. I was near convinced it was the stereo system from my next door neighbor who parties day and night in his garage which faces my house. That coupled with the fact my whole house is hardwood, seemed to make best sense I could fathom at the time. I went to a primary care doctor, a neurologist, and an ENT (I’m not military so they’re all the same it seems in their wishes for us lol). They all were dismissive and told me it was anxiety. As someone who has endured anxiety all of my life, I knew that it was not even close. More probable was they didn’t have an answer and were going with the nurse practitioner’s original diagnosis. I was, and remain, confident this was a neurological and/or vestibular impact caused by Covid. I saw a neurosurgeon for an unrelated issue, and discussed it with him. He agreed it could be a result of Covid because they are seeing many neurological impacts from the disease but they just don’t know enough about it yet to say for sure what all it can do. I took some Xanax for a few days just to be able to sleep but quickly stopped when I noticed it was making me emotional. No thanks. Eventually it subsided for the most part but I sold the house thinking it would be better to be in a quieter location. I went a whole year without this until last night. I had a respiratory infection (not Covid) this week that I’m nearly recovered from. Not sure if that’s caused a return or what. I didn’t sleep for a few days being sick and my right ear has been congested. I had frequent waking for two days then last night this full on returned with the tremor and pulsing in my back and arms. I am beside myself. I know for certain it’s internal without any question at this point but unfortunately I have no diagnosis. Noise cancelling headphones help some with the auditory component but the internal tremor still persists when wearing. I hope you are doing much better now and have an idea of the cause or a diagnosis. If so, please share! Take care.
