Posted by rose53 @rose53, Oct 21, 2021

I was just diagnosed with this uterine cancer. I am 68 and I'm so freightened. Waiting to see doctor for hysteroctomy. This is all I know. I had a biopsy done and this is the result. Anyone please let me know what ro expect and do before hand and any suggestions are embraced. ❤

I did not quilt during that time, but did crochet baby blankets for pregnancy resource center. The week of chemo I did very little as I was too weak and had a foggy brain. Hard to read a book, even.

@ejrdevries It's lovely that you crochet baby blankets for a pregnancy resource center. I've learned that when I'm feeling something intensely or ill that doing something for someone else really helps. Do you agree? Like posting here on Mayo Clinic Connect and how we can help and support one another.

@rose53 We live in Michigan. Yes, I'm seeing a radiation oncologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. The radiation oncologist and his team spent a lot of time with me and I feel I am in very good hands. How are you doing, @rose53? Are you recovering back at home?

I live in the Grand Rapids area of Michigan. When I had radiation I had it a Blodgett Hospital. The radiation oncologist has since moved to U of M Metro Health in Grand Rapids. Dr. Julie Forstner was very good.

I'm in Michigan but far away from you, I'm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in Marquette County. It takes me as long to drive to Grand Rapids as it does to Mayo Clinic in Rochester. It's good for folks here to know that you think highly of your radiation oncologist and that she is still in Grand Rapids.

Hello @rose53. I'm so glad to hear that you are recovering well from your surgery. I pray also for an optimistic report from your doctor on Thursday. Would you please come back here and let me know how your appointment goes for you?

Thank you for asking about me. I am taking care of myself and spending these days on me. I feel very cared for at Mayo and that I made the choice to come here.

I had a TLH and BSO a week ago. Lymph nodes were all clear. The pre surgery pelvic wash was positive for cancer cells similar to the endometrial cancer that was found. My Dr said that no treatment was necessary, but I would require frequent follow-up due to the pelvic wash. What sort of follow-up is required?

@cmb2022, welcome. So glad you found the group here on Mayo Clinic Connect relatively early in the cancer journey. You've been through a lot in the past few weeks from diagnsosis to surgery - total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) and
bilateral salpingoophorectomy (BSO).

I moved your message asking about follow up to this existing discussion about endometrial adenocarcinoma so you can connect easily with other members with a similar diagnosis, like @cialonel @naturegirl5 @rainna @goldengirl2 @stparker54 @rose53 @ejohn @ejrdevries @andrea69 and more.

CMB, do you know how frequent your follow-up schedule is?
