Transplant: Medical bracelet or necklace

Posted by hello1234 @hello1234, Aug 15, 2021

Hi all,
I am a kidney transplant patient. Do you have a medical bracelet or necklace? If so, what information did you list, which company did you use, and how did you order it?.... Please give me your thoughts. Thanks!!

Road ID also provides medical ones.
Personally i like dog tag ones since a bracelet rubbed and caused, eventually, a skin cancer spot!

Thank you @sallycurrier I like the idea of a dog tag. What type of information did you include on the tag?

Hello1234
My dog tag (now outdated-so I plan to order another) shows my name, city & state, spouse name and phone #, Dr & Phone #, (at that time it was just UCSD), NKA, and Kidney Transplant.
I added a quote “Don’t tell me what I can’t do!”
Choose most relative for/to you!
Have fun with it and stay healthy!

@sallycurrier, I wear a bracelet Medical ID that is silver and I had it adjusted so that it fits me like a charm bracelet. I wear it 24/7.

I am curious as to what kind of wrist bracelet that you had that rubbed a sore that developed into a cancer spot so that I (and others) can take the necessary precaution ahead of time.

Would you tell me about whether you had a charm type of chain bracelet, or a snug band? What kind of material was the chain/band made of? How did you discover the cancer and, most important - has treatment been successful?

IT was a FitBit
It would normally fit snugly but my pretty small frame and thinness just didn’t allow it to fit snuggly ! fit it did not.it just irritated so much that it turned into kind of a sore then a little skin cancer and the spot was caught and removed my my Scottsdale Dermatologist. Done…all good. I still prefer the neck dog tag kin. GL Deciding!

I don’t have a transplant but I've been a MedicAlert member for over 50 years. I like their document storage service. I don't believe any other medical ID can compare and for my seizures a voice-activated system wouldn't help, Conscious one second out the next.
Take care,
Jake

@mikej Here is the link from Medic Alert Foundation. Leonard and I are members in the same organization. For me, it is a small price to pay for peace of mind. I can go online with them and update medications/conditions/ providers anytime. And wearing my bracelet helps me with that same peace of mind, that I am in good hands if something happens while I am out.

Do you have any other questions I can answer for you?

Wow so much great info that I never had , I have been reading a lot about supplements but can't always believe what you read , I know each doctor has their own feeling on them most say nothing in them , guess question for new doctor , I wonder if anyone had any systems before any of this happened to them , I just read a story that over 1,000,000 people trying to loose weight can't because they don't know that it's Bile backing up causing a belly from the liver , hard to believe but guess anything is possible, thanks for all the great info I sure appreciate! Hi Mike, I had slight neuropathy in my feet and terrible itching on my ankles and back for about ten years before developing sharp pains on my left side (due to an enlarged spleen). My doctor finally gave me the labs ai should have had ten years prior and found I had stage 3 liver disease caused by PBC. PBC, while a relatively rare disease, is also widely unrecognized by doctors, like many autoimmune diseases.

I repeatedly told my primary about the symptoms and was dismissed…itching due to “dry skin” and feet numbness/tingling due to “high arches”. So, I gave up. Too bad though, sure would have saved me a lot of pain and suffering, not to mention medical bills.

Wow that's incredible, I had a rash on the sides of my stomach 2 times a month before, and little tiny scabs on my head which still have some now , the doctors all blow it off saying never heard of that one ! I just wonder what other signs I had but don't remember them , I am scared to death to get the flu , but it better than throwing up all night , thank you once again ! Mike

Having been otherwise healthy…good weight, normal blood pressure, etc., some doctors just ignore other complaints. And, I had to work a lot and didn’t have a lot of time to deal with it. So, now I write down all of my symptoms, ask all of my questions, and change doctors if I’m not getting anywhere. Plus, now with a host of health issues, I see only specialists. Which brings its own landscape to figure out and learn how to maneuver around. But, at least I’m more experienced at it!
