Has anyone tried anti-depressant medication for neuropathic pain?

Posted by greenacres @greenacres, Nov 13, 2021

I'm wondering how many people in this community with neuropathic pain have been prescribed some form of an anti-depressant along with or without Gabapentin to help ease the pain and if anyone has found this protocol helpful?

Have you asked your doctor about the status of intradiscal stem cells?

No I have not. To be honest I have never heard of it,

I was just prescribed Cymbalta to go with Gabapentin (that I’ve been taking for 5 yrs) to help with pain, but I haven’t taken the Cymbalta yet. I developed cirrhosis 2 yrs ago (of an also undiagnosed cause) and while my Neurologist says Cymbalta is ok, I want the blessing of my GI/Heptologist first. I’ll let you know if it works. Good luck!

I take Cymbalta for my neuropathic feet. Been taking it for years. It works very well for the pain.

How many mg do you take?

Hi Ann @user_ch98d0b5c - Have you seen the Get Started on Mayo Clinic Connect guide? There is a link to the guide in the footer at the bottom of any page on Connect. Here's a direct link to the guide - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/get-started-on-connect/

It can sometimes be confusing when a member clicks the REPLY button under a post that was a reply to another members question or post. If you are not specifically replying to a member but want to post a question to everyone in the discussion, you just have to scroll to the bottom of the page in the discussion, type in your comment and click the POST COMMENT button.

You can also tag another member like I did here using a member name so that the member receives an email notification that mentions their member name.

Does that help?

I am trying to reply to person and it is usually a question about what they said. So wouldn’t I just hit reply. I would only hit post if I wanted the whole group to see what I am asking?like just now when I replied to you . I think I just hit your address at the top to get to you. Would I do that to someone If I wanted to ask them a question about what they said. So confusing

Yes, just like you did here is a good way to respond with a question. The problem happens when a person types a message and is replying to a message that was a reply to another member ...confusing huh? Anyone subscribing to the discussion will receive an email notification but it's more of a notification of activity in the discussion not directly related but may be helpful to a member (my thoughts anyway).

You are doing great and I hope I didn't add any confusion. Questions are good and it's how we help each other.
