How long does lingering covid last? Is there any help?
Hello,
I have Covid Delta Variant for 6 weeks now. I’m at end stage of covid/ covid lingering symptoms: fatigue is the worst, chest tightness, shortness of breath, heart beats quick, chest pain, cough, diarrhea, dizziness from sit to standing or move too quickly, some loss of smell . These are my main symptoms. I’m getting better slowly.
Worried and anxious about why I’m still sick not better yet.
I’m fully vaccinated since Feb’2021. Never had covid prior.

Update: My doctor started me on new asthma inhaler w/corticosteroids last Tuesday. I am doing better.l! Still having fatigue, SOB, and chest pain/tightness. I’m now in week 8 and in recovery stage. I had PFT this past Friday, I did not do well.
Hi Gabby, this is some encouraging news! I’m glad to hear you’re doing some better after using the inhaler! The steroid in the inhaler will help calm the over reactive tissue in your lungs. Hopefully that puts you on the track to recovery by allowing more air to flow freely and oxygenate your blood.
It’s just unreal how long the Covid side effects are lingering. I’m so sorry you’re still going through all of this. I know the not-so-good result on your pulmonary function test is disheartening. However, now it’s obvious to your doctors that this is a real problem and you’re being treated! They’ll keep better tabs on your situation. It will be interesting to hear the results of your meeting with a cardiologist in December.
Two of my fellow mentors have experience with shortness of breath, and lung health conditions. I’m wondering if @sueinmn and @gabrielm would have any suggestions for improving your breathing and lung capacity.
Did your doctor recommend any type of physical therapy or breathing exercises?
I tested negative after 2 weeks but still suffer from vertigo. It’s been 4 weeks since I first came down with symptoms. I never lost all my taste but lost smell. I have times when I can smell some but still not everything
Was hospitalized with covid nov. 2020. have gone thruogh a ffrightening personality change. medical term might be MPC. Can't believe I've not seen much discussion/feedback on this.
Just realized this after feedback from friends. Can anybody lead me to where this has been discussed, websites, articles? Does anybody know about Neurolspychological Testing, when and where?
@kiwhi444, I hope your symptoms continue to improve. Are you being seen by a COVID specialist or specialty clinic?
@skinner, you're right. I haven't seen any discussion about personality changes in the group yet. I might suggest you start a new discussion on this topic.
“According to new research published in JAMA Psychiatry, as many as one-third of COVID-19 patients have long-term neuropsychiatric symptoms, including psychosis and anxiety.“
I have been trying find the source study for this. If I do I will post.
Mark, here you go:
