It's Thanksgiving today.
People across the United States are sharing meals, walks and stories, and giving thanks. However, there are times life takes us by surprise. Things happen unexpectedly and it is only upon reflection or retrospection that we can give thanks.

@gingerw I would need to write a book...
Cyber hug and a cup of tea to you my cyber friend.
Fear not Elizabeth @ess77 🙂 Kitty is an indoor cat with outdoor privileges, mostly early morning and afternoon. She comes in at night.
@johnbishop, @colleenyoung, and all...Ahhhhh, good to know. Crazy me, I do feel better knowing she's inside. Geez Louise, John, it's plumb cold where you are! She must be inside...I bet you keep her inside with you most of the time. What a life for such a cat....a shared, loved life. Be well, elizabeth
I never thought I'd be thankful for just being alive another day. When I was first diagnosed with liver cancer 4 1/2 years ago, my chances of surviving a year were small, but thanks to the miracle workers at Mayo Transplant Department and a very special Interventional Radiologist, Dr. Toskich, and his magic beads, I'm still able to enjoy the blessings of life. Happy Thanksgiving to all you miracles!
Having a liver other than the one I was born with, but boy am I thankful & blessed💚
@silverwoman, @johnbishop, @parus, @gingerw, @colleenyoung, and all...My goodness, you showed them, the oddsmakers didn't you! Congratulations, silverwoman, on your good fight and precious win! You know, I had a good intervention from a radiologist, not life-saving but life enhancing. They can be very important...You can be so pleased with the stats, and oh, so thankful.
Blessings to you and your family. elizabeth
@migizi. I never thought I would be thankful for the covid pandemic which forced my retirement. As a result and almost two years on a health journey, I have realized it was in the best interest of my overall health to retire (in spite of how much I loved my job). Crazy how something good can come out of such darkness.
I never thought I be thankful for SO many medical providers—surgeons, doctors, nurses, EMTs, social workers, MedEvac crews, and others—who saved me from dying three times in the past two years! And, my eternal gratitude for the man whose liver gave me a second chance for life…I wake up every morning thinking about him and his generosity for stepping up to be an organ donor.
I never thought I’d be thankful for… gosh, I can’t think of a thing. I have always thought and felt grateful for the odd and small, amazing and enormous. Almost as soon as I think of a thing, I can’t imagine NOT being thankful. Eg. I have diverticulosis with flares of diverticulitis. It’s hard to find anything in that situation to be thankful for and yet…I wake in the morning with no belly pain and boy, am I grateful - even for that small respite. Someone above said ‘urine,’ it made me laugh! When my nurse told me the pee fairly squirted across the room when they let the blood flow to my kidney, I said “I’m so lucky to have pee!.” It’s all in one’s point of view. Enjoyed reading all the responses above. Happy Friday!
I never thought I would be thankful for winter in MN. The garden is finally done, and I can move on to the other things I enjoy again such as, my embroidery machine, reading, crafts and family and friends. My 13 gardens take an enormous amount of my time (especially with the last 3 1/2 years of drought). I start gardening in April and end late Nov. So when the first snow fly's I get excited to move on to other things. I am so thankful MN has 4 seasons. I love our state!!!!
