Medications for depression and anxiety
I am interested in discussions re medications. I have been on Fluoxetine 10 mg daily, Ativan 1 mg and Clonazepam 0.5 mg daily for decades. Attempts to go without (after very gradual withdrawal under supervision of Doctor) eventually resulted in return of depression and anxiety. Dr.felt I needed them and I have continued on them. In no case have I ever had to increase the dose of any of them. There seems to be a general feeling the latter 2 are addictive and have to eventually be increased. I have not found this to be the case and wonder how others have found these drugs.

This have been going on beginning since beginning of 2020 just before Covid.
This is my fifth medication but still depressed daily. Do not want to get off of bed.
I totally understand. After I had covid, I woke up one morning with heart palpitations. Went to the ER three mornings in a row. Long story short, they put me on carvedilol and a little later Prozac. After all the heart tests everything is normal. So I was on carvedilol for 1 month and Prozac for 9 days. Stopped both cold turkeys and started having adrenaline rushes and anxiety every morning around 3, it wakes me up. And the feeling stays with me most of the day after that. Not sure if I'm still having withdrawals after 3 weeks or is this just my new normal. It's an awful thing. I wish I had answers for you but I'm in a mess too. All I can do is pray.
Thanks so much for sharing. I am praying too.
Hello @jade1. It sounds like you have been through a lot with your depression and the medication you've been trying to feel better.
There is another discussion from 2012 that I think you would really benefit from reading in case you find any commonalities that may be helpful.

What medications have you been using?
I, too, experience the anxiety and adrenaline rushes all day. I’ve been dealing with digestive issues for the past 2 years and Covid exacerbated everything. I just started taking Lexipro and I hope it will help. I’m seeing a therapist as well and he’s a functional medicine practitioner too. I’m taking an adrenal support supplement. Hope that helps too. All I can do is try to deal with this and pray I find medical/psychological help. I hope you find something that works for you as well. It’s hard to live in these weird bodies.
It's the worst. I am basically unfunctional right now. Thanks for responding. I feel like the doctor taking me off the carvedilol cold turkey might be adding to the adrenaline rush. Let me know how the Lexipro works for you or anything you find that helps. I'll say a prayer for you. Hope this doesn't last forever.
I know everyone keeps telling me that they dont think I should be having withdrawals after just 9 days of prozac, but today I've been off 4 weeks and my anxiety is perfectly awful. I know it stays in your system a month, so I'm wondering if I'm experiencing more symptoms.
It took me six months to withdraw from 40mg of Prozac. Ask your doctor to provide you with a titration schedule. My worst withdrawal symptom was tinnitus but if I followed the titration schedule it was eliminated. If you titrate properly it may take time but the gradual length of time approach will eliminate any side effects associated with withdrawal. Good luck and God bless.
You should call your pharmacist and ask. I’m standing by my opinion that you should not be having withdrawals after 9 days of Prozac.
How long had you taken Prozac?
