@rexsan20 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect!
Here is a link to the rheumatologists at the Jacksonville [FL] location. You can click on their names and get a more complete information about each one. This may help you narrow down who might be best for your situation. I imagine that even though you may have a preference, a particular doctor may not have room to see you, in their schedule. So, please bear that in mind, and know they are doing their best!

May I ask what condition you are needing a rheumatologist for?
Ginger
No, but do your research on line first and request the doctor best suited to your illness. I did not know this and went to the clinic in Jacksonville and was seen by two of the least experienced doctors on their staff. I was less than satisfied.
@rexan20, @gingerw, and all...Hello, and I add my welcome to Ginger. I live in Jacksonville and have been seeing a variety of Mayo doctors over the last few years. I've only met 2 that I would not recommend. I'm extremely impressed with the kindness and wisdom of so many of the entire staff at this community, from the dining room staff to the housekeeping crew and the medical staff;
I was referred to a rheumatologist recently, a doctor whom I should have seen several years ago. I didn't choose a doctor, but the physician I was consulting with at the time referred me to the department. Generally, that's the way it happens. I began in neurology, with previous diagnoses of MS, and have seen 4 neurologists, with different specific interests as I needed more input. I've been sent to nephrology, cardiology, gastroenterology, and others, including rheumatology.
I'm thrilled to now be with a wonderful rheumatologist who has diagnosed an underlying cause for the many issues with my health. His name is Dr. Wang. He thinks out of the box and keeps an open mind. But, I suggest you may not get an appointment with him or any other specific doc. Especially at this time of year, the busiest I think due to end-of-year insurance claims and holidays.
My philosophy with Mayo is I'm thankful to have this help available, I put my visits in God's hands, pray for the right doctor with the knowledge and expertise I need. To date, I'm very pleased with the care from almost every physician.
Any time you see a new doctor's name, go to the Mayo website and click on 'find a doctor. Follow it through and you will find his/her interests, education, specialties. This is a simple way to ck out the person, get a feel for whether he/she will work for you. I like to see a picture and begin a positive relationship at that moment. Sometimes you're assigned based on availability, or timeframe, who's on vacation, and how quickly you may or may not need to see the doc.
Hope this helps you on this journey. Are you a Florida resident or coming from afar? Let us know if you have questions about navigating this process. It can be daunting, but not overwhelming. It all makes sense and Mayo is extremely organized and informative. The patient portal is your best friend. I suggest you sign up and begin to familiarize yourself as it will be of immense help.Lots of places and people to answer questions.
Take a deep breath and know you're moving forward to better health, or a diagnosis or treatment and a lot of support.
This is a great source for you, Connect. Blessings, elizabeth.
