Transplant: No or Few Antibodies after COVID Vaccination
My daughter received a kidney from her father 15 months ago. She is participating in the Johns Hopkins study of transplant patients undergoing vaccination. The study required that she be tested for antibodies just before she received her second shot. The test results showed that she had no antibodies to Covid-19. I wonder if anyone else on this list is participating in the Hopkins study and can share their experience. I know the study will be asking participants to repeat the antibody test four of five more times over the year after being fully vaccinated. Thank you

Good to hear from you @jackie421blfdgurl! But, I’m very sorry you’re suffering so much. I sure hope getting off Mycophenolate helps. Can you drink protein shakes for nutrition…you need something to build up your strength! I’m going to beat you at walking if you don’t get your strength back soon!
That’s awesome you got a job! Me too! Just halftime as well, I started Monday. Do you go to the school, or is it virtual.
Please let me know how your tests come out.
Tres chic!! I do the same thing with my masks, coordinating with attire for the day. To me, they’re just as important as putting on my glasses so they might as well not clash! LOL I still make masks for my friends and family. My favorite is now put away for the season but it was really cute, rather demented jack o lantern fabric.
How’s the new job? Starting to feel comfortable and at home in the new environment? I hope everyone is making you feel welcome there!
@jackiejackie421blfdgurl A few weeks after my kidney transplant, I had diarrhea. My doctor thought Cellcept was the culprit and took me of it. The diarrhea went away. A couple of weeks later, he put me back on Cellcept at a lower dosage. Thankfully, the diarrhea didn’t come back.
Thanks everyone for your input..yes my Dr just took me off CellCept I pray that works. She had me taking 1000mg a day.. don't want to b a prisoner

Thanks for your input hopefully stopping CellCept will help a lot. Sitting here eating rice.yulk!!! Yes I will let u know results..so happy for u that u r working p/t too..have good day
Hey there. Yup, glasses and masks…at least masks are less expensive! Work is mostly good. There’s a lot to manage, but I like it. Office life is tough, between the noise and Covid concern. My office mates were discussing vaccination mandates in reference to all the Massachusetts state employees refusing to comply with the vaccine mandate. I of course chimed in that even if folks don’t want to get vaccinated for themselves, it’s important for protecting others who most likely aren’t protected, when vaccinated, due to being immunosuppressed. So, they all agreed and said they are vaccinated. So that’s good.

Did everyone hear about the positive news regarding Regeneron monoclonal antibodies? According to their trial, the treatment is 81% effective at preventing covid when used prophylaxis. This is excellent news for all the immune suppressed patients that received no antibodies from the vaccine! (It appears we may need booster shots quarterly of the antibodies). They are applying for Emergency Use now with the FDA.... Freedom may be coming our way soon!
Hey there @jackie421blfdgurl, wanted to check in and see how you are doing. Has getting off Mycophenolate helped any? Can you have turkey 🦃 with your rice yuck? I hop you’re back to walking with Booboo!
Hey girlfriend...I was in hospital last Thursday stayed for 4 days. Was very dehydrated...all blood levels low..needed blood liquid magnesium..and lots of bags of liquid. They put me on a gluten free diet they. Think it is cellaic desiese.so I have been on gluten free. Bathroom trips stopped and feel normal .. yippee! Yes only meds I am on is tacrolimus among some others, but celecept stopped .yes ate enough rice to fill a stadium..yulk!!!! Happy Thanksgiving.....jackie
Ugh, very sorry you were back in the hospital….but, happy your digestive track sounds like it’s on a better track. When I had liver disease I drank tons of CALM, tastes ok and loaded with Magnesium. Don’t think it comes with blood in it though…hopefully you won’t need that again!
Nice that you’re off Mycophenolate. I’m hoping I get there one of these days…might reduce the number of infections I get.
Be well and Happy Thanksgiving! Athena
