About N-Acetyl L-Cysteine (NAC) and finding it
I've been out of the lung support NAC by Jarrow. Seems it's nowhere to be found online. Suggestions anyone? Thanks Margie

Hi. I wonder if the shortage of nac can be due to those either with covid or in fear of getting covid buying it up?
Hi Terri -
I asked that at my Co-op. They said they received notice from their distributor that 3 companies stopped offering it due to the FDA challenge. It seems they are worried because they also produce regulated meds and don't want to get in a fight. Others seem to have decided the FDA is all bark and no bite on this matter.
I have still baan able to find it with a little lookinng.

What is NAC? I have never heard of it. What does it do?
Amazon: Brand: Generic
N-utrija-N-Acetyl CYSTEINE (N.A.C), 600 MG - 60 Capsules
NAC is a supplement which is thought to help improve lung function in those with disease. Some of us use it, others use the elemental form known as glutathione.

What country produces this supplement? If it is China, I would be apprehensive.
NAC is a supplement and as such very few formal studies have been done because there's no money behind them. I recall a study in Japan that found only a lot of it, 2400 mg per day, does any good. Most of us take 1200, two 600 capsules per day.
There are several uses for this supplement and no known side effects. At least, none that I've heard of.
For many of us, NAC thins our sputum making it easier to get it up and out. In my case, it works to thin my thick taffy like sputum to honey like.
I’ve been taking two 600 mg capsules per day but I noticed that some brands say take one capsule a day and others say two. Any idea why that might be the case?
I read an article that said to beware of these ‘fillers’ in NAC products.
Beware: Harmful Fillers
Magnesium Stearate
This cheap filler is used to help bind ingredients together and lubricate the supplement so it doesn’t gum up when it is run through the manufacturing machines. Magnesium stearate adds no nutritional value and can become toxic to your system.
Titanium Dioxide
Widely relied upon in supplement manufacturing as a coloring agent and binding mineral, titanium dioxide can compromise the health of your immune system. Low-quality health supplements typically include this filler.
I use primarily the Swanson Brand, manufactured in the USA. I too am leery of supplements made elsewhere, but their products rate well in purity and potency tests for other supplements, so I trust the NAC as well.
