That's a good question, ironically I was taking chlorella to control the yeast in my body, kill it off to lower my inflammation, not aware it helped remove heavy metals. I learned about the power of chlorella from The Yeast Connection Handbook diet I was following. It gave information that the yeast we all having living inside our bodies, residing in our colon, feeding on sugars and carbs and giving off waste which passes through our intestinal linings and into our bloodstream is raising our inflammation. Chlorella is supposed to help control the yeast. Eczema is an inflammatory disease, yet I was trying this diet to stop my internal stinging and zapping which was not visual and not directly connected to the 3 forms of eczema I had, maybe this internal form of itching and stinging is a form of eczema of which I had never been given a name. I just recently learned chlorella also helps detox our bodies of heavy metals. As I have mentioned hundreds of times, I am a disciple of the Yeast Connection Handbook because it worked and is still working for me, now that detox is over the maintenance plan is easy and yes I do eat more carbs than recommended and am still fine. I simply don't do processed sugar. No anti-yeast meds at all. No more internal misery.

I had been taking in chlorella for about 4 months and following my diet before I started the cilantro detox of heavy metals which I learned about on this site in Feb 2019.

I just read on the internet that taking cilantro and chlorella together, 3 times a day for 3 months will remove:
87% of lead
91% of mercury
74% of aluminum.
Of course this is not the pattern any of us used, also I see no mention of fresh versus frozen or tablets. In my case I went overboard and did the fresh or frozen cilantro smoothies for 6 months fearing to stop them and reverting back to active GD. Also I take the chlorella tablets.

I have been tested and have a moderate aluminum allergy and we all have heard of the damage from heavy metals regarding Alzheimer's and heavy metals, we know brain damage occurs from lead that's why it has been removed from paints. Yet with the abundance of information on the internet about the connection to metals and diseases I don't understand why we are not educated more on this connection.

Here is a long article on both Chlorella and Spirulina I just found. The main cautionary takeaways from it appear to be that consumers need to be sure these products are tested for purity by a reliable independent company, that there are many claims made for these products, but these claims have never been verified in any credible scientific study, they may produce side effects in some people, and it may be best to take these substances for only a limited length of time. On the other hand, they are great sources of certain nutrients. I'm not sure what to make of all this, but I'm going to continue taking Chlorella for now, but as @gardeningjunkie mentioned, Chlorella pills can be HUGE as is the case with the one I am taking now, so I need to find another brand.
