I was very so sorry to hear about your husband’s first stage of the DBS surgery. It sounded so painful and upsetting for both ôf you.
My husband, Jim had the first stage of the DBS surgery on September 28, 2021 and his experience was totally different from yours.
Jim said he was bothered by the sound of the drill but mainly because it was a reminder it was drilling a hole in his skull. He did not feel any pain from the drill.
After the surgery he was not in pain but he was told to take Tylenol if he needed something for the pain.
During the next five days, Jim took two extra strength Tylenol two or three times a day.
His main complaint about discomfort was trying to rest his head on the pillow at night because the probes stuck out a bit.
Tomorrow Jim returns to the hospital for the second surgery, and we are hopeful it will go as well as the first operation.
My best wishes to all of you as you continue on your own journeys.
To Maxine and Walt. It was very generous of you to share your experience with DBS surgery. I’m sure we all learned a lot.

I'm so pleased to hear that part one of your husband's surgery went so well. I hope that his second surgery goes as well.

Will you post an update after the surgery?
