They initially just stopped the Warfarin…my PC doctor was testing/adjusting my Warfarin dosage a lot! Test results were all over the place (later I was informed that this is (blood turning to “water”, then back to “mud” quickly) what happens when you have high (2.4x normal level) factor VIII.
I found out after I had suffered a stroke.
Hello @kathiemk,
I was thinking about you and wondering how you are feeling. Any more stroke-related pain? Is the Xarelto still working well for you?
Could you post an update when it is convenient?
I am a Factor V and just found out I may have had a stroke. MRI on the 30th for a brain scan.
Hello, new to Mayo Clinic, have been looking for years for group chats with others who have Factor VIII.
why is that?
I don't know if I have Factor VIII but a few family members have VIII. In any case, since my stroke was a bleed I am not supposed to have anything like a blood thinner. I am so sorry you have had so much so many trips to the hospital. So darn frightening that we mighty have another stroke. My doctor said I have a 90 percent chance of NOT having a stroke again. Blessing to you and will put you on my prayer list.
Kind Regards,
Michele
I was wrong I spoke with my niece and she said the thread that affects many of my family members is Factor V Leiden. So far two sisters, two nieces, two great nieces have the same gene. Only the two sisters in their 70's now have had a stroke. The younger nieces and great nieces being so young have not had a stroke.
Prayers to all you good people here to remember to get outside and walk each day possible and only one alcohol drink a month, if at all. This is my formula for recovery.
Take care everyone.
Kind Regards,
Michele
