I have been suffering with severe anxiety and panic attacks for quite awhile now. On medication but nothing seems to work. Interested in knowing if anyone else is experiencing this as well. Could use some input. Also, these are old posts. Are there any posts from 2021 available?
@annie2 As @suzbyrne mentioned, there are several discussions that you can access in this Depression and Anxiety group. I am curious what medications you may be taking. If you haven't checked with your dr, you might want to do so, and find out if the combination you are on [depression and anxiety meds, plus anything else] may be giving you an unwanted interaction? Is that a possibility?
I would wager that there are increased numbers of people living with anxiety and panic attacks since the beginning of 2020, when the pandemic hit us and changed the way we are having to live each day. It has been a radically different lifestyle, and that can cause some unwanted affects. Not being able to go where we want/do what we want/perhaps even losing our livelihood can be very unsettling.
When my anxiety starts to get the best of me, getting outside to walk and breathe fresh air helps me. Also, I write down my thoughts and feelings, which helps me "get it out of my system" so I am not dwelling on it so much. I do take a mild anti-depression medication, which helps the peaks and valleys not have such dramatic points. For me, looking closely at what might be the root cause of my anxiety has helped me a lot.

@annie2 Welcome, Annie. I've not been on Connect very long, but I'm sure you can get your concerns addressed here. I have depression, among other things, and have found the Depression and Anxiety group quite helpful.
What medications are you taking? Many of them cover multiple diagnoses. Right now I'm taking Citalopram with Wellbutrin. I've been on Citalopram for a long time and it seems to be losing its effectiveness. My GP added Wellbutrin and I'll stick with that until I can see the prescribing Psychiatrist. I've moved recently, and am having to find all new doctors. Ugh!
Just wanted you to know, there's someone out here. And suggest you check out the Depression group also. 🙂
Thank you for your response. I wasn't sure if anyone was still out there. I am on two antidepressants as well as klonopin .5 3x daily. I have full blown attacks that can last for months. They are from morning till night. Very worrisome. Tomorrow I start an intense outpatient program and am hoping this will work. When I have these attacks I am incapacitated. They are very strong and hard to distract from. I hope that you get the help you need from the new doctors. I always pray for those of us who suffer. All the best to you.

Suffering same thing. Been to 4 doctors. They all blame it on "covid anxiety". I don't accept that. Seeing a new psychiatrist next month. Must solve this. My life is horrible.

I have the same as well as depression. I just went back to mind/body meditation and breathing techniques mixed with some restorative yoga. I did it for quite a while a couple of years ago and then stopped. My anxiety has been at an all time high lately so I called where I used to go for this and I do one one via telephone-health with the person who ran the group session. It does help.
Thank you Diane. I have just started an intensive counseling program which lasts six to eight weeks. I have the anxiety and panic attacks as well as chronic pain. I am praying this will help me. So sorry to hear that your symptoms have returned. I don't believe that we are ever really "cured" but learning coping techniques is so important. I wish you success and speedy relief from your symptoms. Please keep your fingers crossed for me as I will with you.

I can totally relate to that as mine is also. You lose quality of life. I hope you get the help you need from the new psychiatrist. We need answers in order to get well. Wishing you the best.

Thanks Ginger. I just have not noticed any new posts and was wondering if the site was still active.

Wellbutrin EXACERBATES ANXIETY! Your doctor should know that! Try Lexapro!
