New Ostomy: Any help would be appreciated
I’m new to this site, and new to having an ostomy. My surgery was on May 10th, (Mother’s Day). I’m still experiencing lots of leakage no matter what I try. I found a support group not too far away, however they don’t meet again until September, I’d like to talk to someone before that. Any help would be appreciated.

See your colorectal surgeon he will know what you if you need one! Always get a second opinion if you feel it’s necessary. I went to many until I found ones I had complete faith in!
Yep.
@kenc @dancing1. In my opinion, my obgyn surgeon or staff caused my problems. We do not have a colorectal surgeon locally, and so Dr Obgyn wants to do the surgery. What do you all think?
I understand completely and it was quite a process for me to find a Doctor I trusted fir my second colorectal surgery. My first was done while I lived here by Dr Venkatesh in Mesa years ago. I really loved him. But my ileostomy was done at UCSF by the colorectal head of surgery Dr M Varma. I lived in Rocklin Ca and it was worth the travel to UCSF.
Forgive my typing fingers swollen from Raynauds 🤣
@dancing1. Thanks for your comments. I must apologize. I just found a couple of colorectal\prostate surgeons in my area. Anyway of checking them out, do you think? BTW, I'm in Central Illinois. To give you an idea of the medical service here - and we are a medical center - BCBS just canceled some of their coverage here cause we are too small.
What experience has the physician had in performing this complex surgery. This also includes the people assisting him the operating room and the post surgery staff. Also, what type of colorectal surgery is the doctor proposing?
Hi @grandmairene, I wanted to add my welcome. You are certainly in the right place to connect with other "ostomates" - people living with ostomies. Please ask your questions any time.
To help answer your first question "Primarily what are, if any, consequences of not having the procedure reversed?" I'll invite fellow members @thull @coffeebean @iamthekat @d1ane who have had a reversal and can share their experiences.
What other questions do you have Grandmairene?
Find the Doctor that you really trust and have faith in! That’s probably the absolute best any of us can do. I’ll keep you in my thoughts! Hoping you can find a doctor you really trust to help you! Hang in there! ♥️
