I have been taking up to 11 vitamins and supplements a day as prescribed by a doctor 7 years ago, due to MTHFR gene mutation. I would like to update what supplements and vitamins are needed for this condition. Any input welcome!

Hi ! I am new to the post and community here. I came across this while searching for the MTHFR mutation. All I was told by my gp was I have the mutation but homocysteine is within range and bit b12 is high. Which is due to the mutation . He’s thinking Hashimoto (?) . Any advice - Ty in advance!

Can anyone recommend drug/drugs that may be helpful in tapering off of Tramadol?

Hi everyone, I tested positive for homozygous A1298C MTHFR. l am 56 years old and live in central FL. My whole life I have been plagued with sinus infections, chest infections, asthma. I feel like I am the healthiest unhealthy person in the world. Is it more helpful to see an MD or a nutritionist? Can anyone recommend a professional in central florida who knows how to treat this? Thank you.

Yes,if it helps

I found this discussion searching for answers re: old genetic testing (prior to it officially being considered a “real” concern) revealing that I have two polymorphisms, both C677T and at least one copy of A1298C. If Mayo Clinic recognizes this as affecting health and requiring special nutritional/supplemental intervention, then where must I look for their stance on this condition? How do I schedule an appointment if I can’t find the proper department? I have a huge cluster of health issues and have had since youth including MTHFR related cancer and need current and official genetic testing for insurance and need proper nutritional guidance. My small-town clinic has not been helpful.

I did try to secure an appointment with endocrinology, because I had been seen there before so was advised to try there first but my request was rejected. I’ll try Genomics, thank you.

I have also been diagnosed with a double mutation of MTHFR and I take one EBN5 in the morning and at night. Has anyone else been prescribed this for the double mutation?

I was just diagnosed with B6 toxicity despite the fact the only supplement I take is a packet of Emergen-C (10mg B6) each morning (which I've done for probably a decade.) How interesting to come here and tie together B6 toxicity, hypermobility, and MTHFR mutations, all of which I have! Now that I know, I've stopped the Emergen-C and am hoping my neuropathy, lack of sensation (can't feel heat while cold causes me severe pain), lessened proprioception, brain fog, fatigue and painful skin lesions (back, arms and legs, lower lip) will get better. Sure appreciate the information here!

I have MTHFR and SIBO IMO. I was taking Nufola but read that alpha lipoic acid won't help MTHFR so I switched to Methylated Multivitamin which contains a bunch of good vitamins plus TMG which I read was great for MTHFR. I'm on a ton of supplements and a diet for SIBO plus my 4th round of xifaxin (yes, I know). But I also want to concentrate on MTHFR which I understand can cause SIBO along with about 15 other causes. The only additional diet change I made for MTHFR was to stop eating anything with the word enriched in it (I was a bread addict so...). But now I read that you must take lipsomal glutathion for MTHFR. I don't know whether to add it to the methylated multiviamin or just get some lipsomal glutathion. Anyone out there who tried it?
