Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group

Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots. Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'

And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?

Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:
- Get walking with this 12-week walking schedule https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/get-walking-with-this-12-week-walking-schedule/

So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.

Who’s in? Who’s going to join me?

Come on, Let’s Go Walking!

Thanks Lori - They wore us out! We both had a little snooze after lunch. I'm going to miss our "a ventures" when school starts next month.

The colorful hats are from Mexico - we have such fun choosing new ones twice a year, and they wear them everywhere - even lost one off the paddleboard into the lake this summer. The little one repeatedly settles his onto his head like a ballplayer...we hardly ever see his eyes.

Has anyone had a good walk lately? We too the opportunity of our regular Monday "a venture" with our littles to take a 2 mile walk to and from the "big park" to use the big playground. Look what who found along the way! These guys made it all the way there and played for a half hour with only a few short piggy back rides on the way back. Boy, were they ready for a snack and a rest when we got back.
Best walk in a long time.

How adorable! I remember when my littles were little. Now they are 19, 20, 22 and 23. But to me they are still 10.
Had my usual 2 miler today. Ordered some flashing light shoe clips because I am up so early it’s dark when I want to leave. That way I get to wave to one of my grands on his way to work or my daughter if she is going to her trainer and meet up with a friend who is a runner/biker.
Humidity not too bad in the early morning because of the rain we have had.
If I had an outing to the park with your two little ones I would need a snack and time out vertically on my sofa.

I see I'm not doing the walking right! 5 minute warm-up, brisk walking, then cool down! I walked 1 mile, had a soda, walked back. Today was so windy here, not enjoyable for walking ...

1 mile, that’s great. Your foot/feet must be a lot better. I haven’t had a soda in ages. A Dr. Pepper sounds so good.
I walked 1.6 miles today.

They were raffling off a beautiful quilt of Mount Shasta at the museum there. I bought 100 tickets and still can’t figure out why I didn’t but at least 1,000. I never saw anything that I wanted more, but maybe subconsciously I wanted the extra 900.00 dollars or more worse. That stupid decision haunts me to this day since after I lost I found a quilter who worked on the original and I hired her to make me one. I paid her $1000 to start it. No telling how much more it was going to cost but it didn’t matter, then she got sick an couldn’t do it.
Well, at least I’ll have something amazing for my 97th birthday.

@sueinmn, @jakedduck1. Maybe Sue can get your quilt made in time for that 120th birthday party we're all going to, Jake!

Hi, everyone! Are you like me and not walking? I’m not really Not walking, but i sure don’t really walk far. This photo is of Crested Butte from the top of Mt. Crested Butte. And No, we didn’t walk up! I thought about walking down but my DIL said I’d be run over by mountain bikes. And now were home and back to unexciting walks. Just wondering if @lioness is still walking!!
