Tall tales and (I hope) harmless silliness corner.

At the prescription counter yesterday a guy next to me was writing a check for a box of saline solution ampules. Naturally it got my attention. Now get this; I sneaked peek at the name on the check and did a double-take. I was standing next to Neb U. Lizer.

New topic: In the days of yore at a time before I learned that the $1,300.00 rambunctious Respirtech Percussion Vest my Pulmo persuaded Medicare to buy for me was superfluous*, yeah while being jostled around one evening I penned this ditty. You old timers can roll your eyes while the newer bunch have a look.
To the tune of Gene Autry’s “I’m Back in the Saddle Again.“ “I’m ridin’ ole Thumper again.
Chasin’ that old Devil phlegm.
If I don’t git him now,
there’s always a next round,
I know I’ll git him somehow.
Yippie ty yi a, goin’ my way
Ridin’ ole Thumper again.“

*Superflous by dint of my gradual realization that the “Thumper” didn’t seem to add noticeably to the result of “nebulizer only.” Don

Despite having recently reported that I had, some time ago, concluded "that the “Thumper” didn’t seem to add noticeably to the (therapeutic) result of “nebulizer only,” Also mentioned that several months ago I moved the unit to the closet and continued to pursue a "neb only" regimen." What I may not have mentioned is that the Respirtech percussion vest unit (Thumper) had long since ceased to "percuss." It continued to produce a low-volume air flow but sans "thumps." So, urged by my wife, who has observed that I've recently been coughing more than usual, I decided to report the malfunction to the Respirtech factory in Minnesota.
My already established respect for Respirtech's impressive customer service response was doubly reinforced, Following a brief description of what my unit was NOT doing (i.e., "working properly) the competent, courteous service rep intervened with an apology for my inconvenience AND that she would immediately enter an order for a replacement AND that she would attempt to get it shipped so that I might have it the following day and if not then, the next day. Also, a few days later I would receive an empty carton with a shipping label which in which she hoped I would pack up the old unit and take to a UPS store to return it to them. Fortuitously, I live only a mile or so from a UPS store.
It's such a solid pleasure to deal with an outfit that so effectively "steps up to the plate." when the
"chips are down." Breath Easy, Don
