Anyone tried a time release medication for peripheral neuropathy?

I used the fentanyl patch which stayed on for 72 hours. Although I imagine it would be very difficult to get a prescription for today.
I took it for other reasons but it helped the Neuropathy but it didn’t get rid of it’s painful sensations,

Also when I started taking extended release seizure medication my seizures stopped which had been uncontrollable. Perhaps it was the time release meds or maybe a coincidence.

Not unless Gabapentin is time release. It worked at night for about 8 or 9 months just by knocking me out for 10 hours. That has kind of worn off now and I am still sleeping, but I find myself up with my feet on an ice pack more nights again.. sigh. Is there a time release med for for this? Non opioid?

Yes, Gabapentin does come in a time-release formulation.
I know they make 600 my and maybe 300 mg too. You may need to increase your dose. Gabapentin, although the recommended daily amount is considered 3,600 mg a day. However if you don't have side effects or they are tolerable it can be increased we'll above that limit. I knew it a man who took 7,000 mg a day for Neuropathy. I only took the 3,600 but wonder if a higher dose would have helped. years later I took fentanyl which helped me but that drug is it commonly given out, Well at least not legally.

I take 900 at night but only 300 in the morning and lunchtime, I know I would sleep if I took it during the day. Also it doesn’t really kill the neuropathy, it just makes me sleep through it, not really the best solution. Still pondering if I should try the doc again, it is so dangerous to our family to be where the sick people go right now. Thanks for responding. You said you were on gabapentin, then fentanyl patches, what are you doing now to help it?

Most of the time I had Neuropathy pain I just lived with it. Now I don’t have the pain, it changed to numbness which I don’t mind. Although I try putting on and taking off my shoes and socks multiple times because I don’t know whether they’re on or off and also it feels like I have clown shoes on those big long shoes that clowns wear. If it were up to me I wouldn’t be taking any medication unless I believe they were essential and since I have such a frequent history of dad and seizures which most likely wouldn’t stop on their own and I live alone it’s too dangerous not to take seizure medications.

My feet were mostly numb and a little tingling for year then this year they just started burning. So mine are going the opposite direction. Funny business! I am glad you are not in pain, even if you do have to wear clown shoes. Lol

Yep, clown shoes are definitely better than pain.
When I had all those painful sensations you might say I was luckier than most since I was unconscious most of the time from seizures.
I was in at least 10 comas one for eight months so no pain then.

That’s exactly my point. I go to sleep with ice pack and 600mg Gabapentin (10:30pm). I’m woken up by 3 or 4 am with pain. I think my pain dr mentioned time release. Just checking to see if anyone has used it.
