Good morning, @dawnm2. I thought that I would chime in because all of my Lung Cancer doctors are in Boston. I live in RI. Mass General Hospital, in Boston, is the 2nd leading hospital in the country. There is no Mayo in New England. My son lives in OR and we gave a lot of thought to moving there, but decided to stay near my hospital. We even thought of moving to Paris!

Our reasons were that my son could pick up and move (although I doubt that Mayo will, lol). Also if I'm not getting proper health care, seeing my son would still be a possibility!

@dawnm2, I want to welcome you to Mayo Connect. Since you have posted your lodging question in the Transplant Group, Am I correct to assume that you will be there for a transplant related appointment? If so, you might be interested to know that Mayo Clinic in Florida has an on-campus hospitality house. It is the Gabriel House of Care. This house is dedicated to providing affordable, temporary lodging in a "community of healing" for adult organ transplant and cancer patients and their caregivers.
There are no reservations, but your name is placed on a waiting list and you will be called closer to your appointment date.

I am a liver and kidney transplant recipient. I got my transplant at Mayo Rochester. We stayed at the Gift of Life Transplant hospitality house in Rochester in 2009 for 12 weeks.
