New blood test to detect early stage pancreatic cancer

Posted by Mario @mariouk, Oct 22, 2020

Hey all, I hope you are all well and safe !

I wonder if this board ever heard of this new blood test and if there has been any further tests . I did reach out to the professor myself and I can see that he is part of the UK pancreatic cancer board but I doubt he will reply back to me. http://www.lunduniversity.lu.se/article/new-blood-test-detects-early-stage-pancreatic-cancer ( I cant post URL yet which is fair )

It would be amazing for this disease if an early test can help and can be done frequently for all

Hello Mario @mariouk, You will be able to post links in a few days. We updated the title of your discussion to better describe the discussion for members and also added the link to the new test. It is indeed an exciting development in the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. The link you provided also referenced an article in the Journal of Clinical Oncology describing the new test.

Will you let us know if you hear back from the professor?

Hi @johnbishop thank you and indeed I heard back from somebody in his team.

This was the summary reply:

“Regarding IMMray PanCan-d, Immunovias test for early detection of pancreatic cancer, is actually not developed for IPMNs but for early stages of pancreatic adenocarcinoma which is pancreatic cancer.

If you would like to receive updates about Immunovia and our test, please subscribe on our webpage: immunovia.com.“ (url)

And with that email I just learned that they are numerous pancreatic cancers and they all have different tests. Jesus here I was getting more positive 🙁

My friend had the Whipple procedure
No cancer but he was told he was a month away. What tests or scans and how often should he be getting to insure it stays that way. His Dr. says 6mo. scans.

Hi Jeanne, I hope your friend is doing well. May I please ask what “he was a month away means” in regards the cancer ? Do they mean that he would have gotten cancer in a month and if yes how the heck can they tell that.
