Thank you for the resources that you sent me. The challenge for me is managing what I feel is a chronic illness. I have been a RN my entire life and I have taken care of many patients living with Chronic disease. This is a silent looking disease. Prednisone is a miracle when taken even in low doses. Friends and family have no
Idea the suffering that goes along with this. With that said I am still very thankful that prednisone low dose works for me and other Biologics for RA works for others. At this point I am managing this with low-dose prednisone and hoping that methotrexate will not be something I need to take at this time. Trying to keep side effects at a minimum and have a healthy lifestyle the best I can. So far it’s working. Thank you for asking.
Hi Tsc. So sorry that you have GCA . Thank goodness for Prednisone. I hear that pain is terrible. It is a medical emergency when that occurs I hear. You are doing great with the tapering. I pray that this PMR/GCA runs it’s course and you are back to yourself quickly. Thank you for reaching out. Best wishes!
pmr freefor 6months recently started aces n pains now back on 20mg prednisone crp14
Sorry to hear that @roboedit. Unfortunately, our immune systems don't always calm down when we want them to. I hope this next bout goes better for you.
Thanks, leilalou. You know the pain from PMR was much worse because it was throughout my whole body. The GCA was a bunch of strange symptoms and pains, that were getting worse, but it's more serious - so needs - effective treatment before blindness or a stroke occur. Best, tsc
I have been off Prednisone for more than a year. I tried various combinations of CBD and THC. I found that a balanced 50/50 CBD & THC works well for me. It can be used topically or orally.
Hello. This is all new to me. Sudden shock! Was healthy …working out every day…running…capable of doing anything. And then…this hit . Does it ever go away? Can life be normal again? Thoughts from anyone?
Just started taking CBD. Hope it works .
Hello @sio, Welcome to Connect, an online community where patients and caregivers share their experiences, find support and exchange information with others. I'm sorry to hear you are struggling with the pain of PMR. Your second post mentioned that you just started taking CBD to see if it will help with the pain.
Are you able to share a little more information on your diagnosis and if you were started on prednisone to treat the PMR?
Please let us know how that works out. I have been on Prednisone for two years starting with 20mgs. I felt great! I didn't start feeling bad until I got down below 5 mgs. last March. My physician insists I get off of it so now I am down to 2 and a half mgs. and feel rough. Muscles are stiff and the aches and pains in arms, legs, back never go away so I am not a happy camper and was thinking about alternatives when I am totally off of prednisone.
