I remember a mention of research out of California about an artificial kidney that is placed in a backpack for portability. II have located this article dated January 29, 2021 from UCLAHealth that says that "Dr. Kurtz estimates that his team needs another 18 months to refine the technology on the wearable artificial kidney and then will focus on the implantable artificial kidney."

Well, I would have to see it in action...Sounds better than going 3 times a week for dialysis. Bet some Pharmacal Company will buy it and put it on their back self...these companies are making much too much money to give it up without a fight...
