Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More

Posted by Debbra Williams, Alumna Mentor @debbraw, Feb 22, 2019

Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.

Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.

Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!

I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

😂😂.Jake I’m in possession of 8 of THE BEST candy bars on the face of the planet. A favorite stop for chocolate is this little mom & pop place. We stop any time we’re passing through the area. They custom make bars with a host of yummy fillings. My favorite is the curry pistachio bar. They do ship but have limits depending on the temperature in summer.
Wisconsin Butter toffee is out of this world.
Their Turtles, caramels or oysters are ‘death by chocolate’ but what a way to go….

Hello,
No, not yet but going to get me some of everything. I forgot the name but the brown sugar & fudge, Carmel & marshmallows are a few of my very favorites. I love creams but I love all candy.
I'm going to get some sugarless for my cousin.
I don't like mint but if I'm in a hotel and they put one on my pillow or at a restaurant and they bring one lets just say they don't get given or thrown away.
Right now I'd like some Rocky Road & Vanilla Fudge & if I didn't mind cooking I'd make some divinity. I hope someone comes along who has had some.

It’s a little place called Wilmar’s Candy, Appleton WI. It’s online, just google it. They win awards for their chocolates! Shhh don’t tell Jake but I’m not a big fan of milk chocolate. But I will eat theirs! It’s delicious.

Those look good but I nearly puked when I saw the Espresso one.
Coffee is the most disgusting vile brew I've ever tasted. GROSS BEYOND EXPLANATION.
Candy with curry? What's that taste like?

The Espresso bars are for my daughter’s mother in law. I’m not a fan either. So don’t hate me. LOL.
The curry pistachio bar is a blend of milk/dark with pistachios, coconut, ginger, sweet curry and sea salt. It’s not hot and spicy curry. The flavors work so well together. My transplant doctor is from India and every time I go in for a checkup, he gets one of these bars. He loves them and is excited to see when I pull on out of my bag for him. 😂 (and I’m not above a little bribery)

Your a naughty girl trying to keep secrets. Why on earth people prefer dark chocolate is something I will never ever understand especially when they can have something so delicious as milk chocolate. Oh well each to their own I suppose. I think the reason I don’t prefer dark chocolate is because it reminds me of coffee not really the taste but that it's a little bitter just like the horrendously awful brew. I once read a statistic that said 97% of the worlds population drinks coffee. I am assuming they’re talking about 97% of the adult population. But I read it on the Internet so who knows if it’s true. My brother drinks coffee even though he tells me he doesn’t like it. I think that’s similar to people eating dark chocolate and saying they prefer it. I think they eat it because they know it’s healthier than milk chocolate regardless of that ferociously vulgar taste.

Oh Leonard...coffee is not bitter...I love my coffee with chickory every morning with half and half. And I detest milk chocolate and absolutly adore the latest 85% dark chocolate from Aldi.
Why would anyone eat or drink anything they did not like on a regular basis? Youe choice of sweets would actually make me gag.
Viva la difference in taste buds. Now let's put this debate to rest

Amen

That sounds like an interesting combo.
I have tried the chili and just about every exotic blend I can get
They are amaziingly sweet . My favorite is still sea salt. The only dark chocolate bar I did not like had caramel in it and I dislike caramel.

I had 2 pieces of.the 85% after dinner tonight
Nice to love food that just happens to be good for you. Of course I love ribs and pizza too....and cannolis...and rum raisin ice cream...etc
