Had Shingles shot and now have PMR
The shingles shot has now been replaced with a new one that is giving in two doses. I had the shingles in 2014, but since you can get them again I had the shot. Now I have been diagnosed with PMR. The original shot has PMR as a possible side effect. I was never informed of that possibility.

I do go for theraputic massages, which are great!
I live in Florida and have a pool.
When it is warm outside, I go in every day.
I always tell my hubby how I feel "normal" when I am in the water.
I swim and do all sorts of exercises including jogging.
In the mornings, I do the treadmill.
All this exercise does not seem to make a difference as far as strengthening my leg muscles.
I also have neuropathy an my big toe, on my right foot is dead, so it drops and will sometimes make me trip if I don't make sure I am lifting my feet when I walk (it gets caught when it drops).
Waiting for the weather to warm up so we can get into the pool!!
@grandmar I've always been amazed at your can-do spirit, Ronnie!

Thank you! That is so kind of you to say!!

@grandmar
Just the truth, ma'am, nothing but the truth! 😃
(An old Dragnet line - you might not be old enough to remember when Dragnet was on TV. I'm undoubtedly dating myself here.)
@hopeful33250
I am more than old enough to remember! LOL
@grandmar I'm glad to hear that. It is easier being old with company!
I had my first shingles shot in March 2021, developed PMR about 6 weeks later. I was a healthy 58 year old without any symptoms. I’ve been doing some research and many people seem to have the same side effects of the Shingrix vaccine…. I do not think I will get the second dose….
Hi Seggink, welcome. You'll notice that I moved your message to this existing discussion where others have reported developing PMR after receiving the first shingles shot.
You are encouraged to report vaccine adverse events to the US Department of Health and Human Services. Visit http://www.vaers.hhs.gov to file a report, or call 1-800-822-7967.
I'm not a particularly brave person, and I did Phizer w/o complications, but I'm just not there for the shingles shot. I keep reading up on it, but it just doesn't seem worth it the way that my body reacts when I take new meds, and this seems like the grand daddy of them all. I'm weighing the options, and for now I'm opting out.
@lizzier, My PMR is currently in remission but I had both Pfizer vaccines followed by both Shingrix vaccines with only the normal side effects - sore arm, some fatigue, etc...
