What's outside of your picture window today?

As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?

For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

@loribmt. Yep, Lori, I've GOT this! Hahaha. (Not!) I tried to send 2 pics of my visiting son and daughter-in-law after the great success I finally had downloading the picture of my loyal little warrior, but again, I failed miserably. Put it down to the 104 degree heatwave we're suffering this week. At least I had the sense to quit after one failure. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.
I'm so happy you like the pic of The Spikester, and he ALWAYS tried to live up to his big-dog name (but not the mean part.) He was about as small as a hamster when I first got him, so his name was hilariously appropriate.

@artist01 104 in the Pacific Northwest…that’s way too hot for you! You have my empathy. I’ve no tolerance for heat anymore. I hope you stay cool…😎 I’m also pleased as punch you had visitors! Being able to see your kids again has to be a little slice of heaven…and a morale booster!

@loribmt. I have no tolerance for this heat, either, Lori, having been a natural redhead all my life. (except now it's turning quite a nice white. I kinda' like it. Lol). Makes me appear old and wise, an Elder, if you will. Note that I said "appear". 😉 It was so wonderful to have the kids here. I had a real display of honest emotion when saying our final goodbye this morning. I.e. crybaby stuff. They live 10 hours a way by car, ferry, and more car. 😥 They might be able to come out again in September. Hope springs eternal...meanwhile, lots of super memories.

@avmcbellar. Hello again. I seem to be having a marathon posting session 🙃 and really have to thank you, as well as @loribmt, @sueinmn, and @johnbishop for the photo posting assistance today.
I had my little Spike from 2001 to 2015, and friends took him into their loving home when I first had to resort to living in a senior care facility as my health issues became overwhelming. That picture of Spike was actually taken when my friends snuck him in as an illegal visitor! He passed away of a stroke in 2016 in the care of my friends. I wish I'd been with him at the time.

Hi @artist01 I am sorry to hear of your loss. He is adorable in that photo. You were there for him all those other years when it was most important. He gave you lots of enjoyment in return. It was understandable you both needed help at the time. You never abandoned him. Your friends cared for him in place of you. What nice friends to have sneaked him in to be with you. Your friends cared💕

@artist01 @ess77 @peach414144 @avmcbellar @jakedduck1 and our other regular visitors to What’s outside your picture window… While we’re sharing our favorite pet pics, here’s my baby boy, Riley. He passed away 5 years ago and is greatly missed. He filled our hearts and days with so much joy. He was super intelligent, had a crazy sense of humor and had equal voting rights in the family unit. LOL

Taking time out for a personal day of celebration today! It’s my 2nd re-birth day after my successful bone marrow transplant! If I could still do cartwheels and backflips without inflicting serious bodily harm I’d be putting on a show worthy of the Olympics!! 😂

"Why do you want to move to Oregon?" they said. "It's cold there." they said. At 4pm it was 113 on our back porch [facing east], yesterday. My big yellow roses are in a huge flush, loving it. We moved to "high" fire danger today.

Hey there Ginger.......I have been thinking about you. You may want to put together an evacuation box and make sure you have gasoline in your vehicles. The #1 reason I left my mountain village was the threat of fire. What made it worse was that the last time we were evacuated was because of an arsonist who threw flares out his car window as he was driving up the mountain. We can do some fire prevention by clearing the underbrush fuel bank but we cannot control the crazies. In addition to that arsonist, there was another one who had tried multiple times and finally got one started which killed five of our firemen.

And then there was the guy who set fires at all three exit roads from the village during the annual Jazz Festival. If you need any must-do lists to prepare I can direct you to the source in Idyllwild.

Be safe, free, and protected from inner and outer harm.

@gingerw I know whereof you speak, Ginger. You're in a really dangerous situation right now. I lived in the Okanagan, B.C. for 10 years - hot, hot summers surrounded by dry, dry forests. In 2003, we were literally surrounded by fire in Summerland where I lived, with water bombers filling up at Lake Okanagan (a yearly event) and hardly an escape route. I had just had thyroid cancer surgery and can vividly recall barely being able to breathe as my friend drove through firey and smokey passages of highway going home from the hospital in Vancouver. I'm sure thinking of you and praying for your safety.

@artscaping @artist01 We have our travel trailer packed, in position to be hooked up to go at a moment's notice [water tank has some, propane tank is full, cat carrier ready]. We have a list of what to pull from house, and they are ready. We have two ways out of town. We have decided which vehicles go. All year we are prepared. The trees and timber around here are pretty stressed.
