How do you control uncontrollable Burping and Belching?

@amandaburnett My Gastro Dr. did send all records over in May. GUESS WHAT...I got a CALL TODAY from Mayo Clinic in Jax ....I have a televisit appt now (not until Sept 7th) !! I understand they have to re-do the tests. It's just the out of pocket cost is scary as the tests are very expensive even with Health Insurance. Also the cost of lodging when you need to stay there a few days isn't cheap at all. I'm looking into a home on VRBO that is dog friendly close to Clinic. I know so many people have gone there and done all the tests and still don't have answers to their issues. I only know from experience . I'm on 5th or 6th Gastro Dr. , I lived in NC and even went to DUKE. Still they couldn't help me get well. Thanks for input. Besides the 3000 deep wet belching, I have non stop churning going on all the time. MY gut gets so loud esp at night that it wakes me up. I'm up on 3 pillows and a small travel pillow too. Of course I'm tired during day from the horrible nights sleep. I even take something for sleep. I have diag. of GERD, Gastritis , small hiatal hernia, Esophagitis. I live on Ultra Pepto as I've tried a laundry list of RX and Holistic stuff. I eat so clean and small...but everything makes my gut terrible and intestines. I'm praying that this Dr. will be able to actually help heal me so I'm not suffering day and night . I want my life back....this is my last chance . Thanks Rosemary

Not been offered the option of GB surgery. I am, finally, getting a referral to Mayo in MN. I live in WA state. I have Medicare and a secondary insurance so my coverage should be good. I belch on an empty stomach and with digesting food. My digestive system churns a lot. The ejection factor on my HIDA scan is higher, 83%. SIBO breath test was borderline for methane this last time. Took a course of riflaxim & neomycin. Doing a follow up breath test. All other tests have been normal range.

@jammins They called me at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville last week and I finally got an appt after 9 weeks on the waitlist.It’s not til Sept 5 th so over 2 more months but it’s a Televisit w/ a Gastro Dr. they set me up with . Not sure of anything passed that yet , I googled him . I’m going to cancel the Cle Clinic televisit ( in Weston, FL ) now .
I’d rather go to Mayo and this Dr. has great credentials and did his Residency and fellowship there . I’ll keep you posted . You do same ok ✅? Rosemary

This sounds exactly like what my mother is going through right now. Has anything helped? PLEASE let me know. We're desperate.

EXTREME BELCHING: Although my mother has seen numerous specialists recommended in the Boston area (neurologists, neuroimmunologist and gastroenterologist), so far none of them have a good treatment. She's only been diagnosed with post-viral gastroparesis, BUT very few of the drugs that have been offered have had even a marginal effect on symptoms. The only drug that seems to somewhat work is Ativan, but it doesn't stop it. We are waiting on the results of an autonomic dysfunction test. She's tried different diets, but nothing has worked.

It started in April shortly after her second Covid vaccine, however, I want to be clear that we have no idea if it's related. Moderna is studying her case.

She's been suffering for 5 months and lost 50 pounds. The excessive belching has become so strong that it's now like a scream. She can not sleep and sweating at night is extreme. She can’t leave the house, eat well, and socialize with the people I love. The intense belching episodes continue for many hours (often up to 9 hours), sometimes making it difficult to speak. Leaving her exhausted, dizzy, and in pain. She gets hot flashes too. We're open to any ideas!

@stephaniesimoni i had a 1 hr televisit w/ Dr.Koop Gastro Dr at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. I’m now set up for 3 tests . Some I’ve had before , years ago .
I’ll do the long 1.5 hr Lactulose hydrogen breath test. The entroscopy C scan w/ contrast that concentrates on the small bowel, (small intestine) area , and another endoscopy but this time w/ endo flip .
I go Oct-3-5 th and come home 6 th .
I understand exactly what your poor Mom is going through as I’ve experienced it for almost 8 years, getting worse each year. I too have been to many Gastro Drs and tried everything under sun and got diagnosed w/ chronic gastritis , esophagitis, Class B GERD, small hiatal hernia , diverticulosis. I’ve done everything RX wise and holistic and enzymes , pre and pro biotics , elimination diets . Still I deep wet beach 3000-4000 x a day and esp at night . I can hardly eat anything without gut and intestines blowing up . Yet I’m hungry .
I eat clean and cook at home , healthy meals . I’m not losing weight, although I eat little . I should be 30 lbs lighter by now .
I’m miserable and missed out on most of my 50’s . I will let you know what my results are . I’m praying 🙏 to get my life back . I only take Ultra Pepto and .50 Klonopin as needed . Ambien but only keeps me asleep 3 hrs . I have a war zone in my gut . My burps are wet and taste like sewer water or stomach lining !! Praying 🙏 for your poor mama too . Rosemary

Yes I've tried Medical Marijuana not smoking but THC gummies and oral drops. No it didn't help nor does pure CBD drops. I wish there was just one thing that would help. A Long 7 years. Please keep me posted on your Mom and what they find out. We have similar stuff going on Stephanie. Praying for you guys too.
