@minimia, can you elaborate. What is interventional radiology procedure will your father be getting?

I am not exactly sure but he will have his regular chemo today and then go back tomorrow to have a tube put in to deliver a radiation protocol in addition to the chemo for 5 days; to I assume to help shrink the pancreatic tumor to help make him a better candidate for surgery (whipple) procedure so was wondering what side effects from the radiation; My family was thinking of planning a visit around his chemo "bad' days.. We should more know more after the next two visits,

Good luck today, @minimia. I hope you will learn what type of radiation he will have. Perhaps it is Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE) or Radioembolization (SIRspheres or THERAspheres).

@minimia, just checking in. Did you learn more? What type of radiation will your father-in-law have? Did he start?

Would that procedure be used just to drain fluid from the abdomen? I am confused and this question is not about me but my stepdaughter who has been in the hospital for about 41 days now, and all that is happening to her is off the chain in my opinion.

Well they tried to drain the fluid but just got info that they only could drain just a little bit and the abcess appears to be infected, plus now they say her heart is weak. So many things have happened to her in the past 41 days she has been in the hospital and it does not appear she is getting better but worse. Her oxygen level keeps plummeting, now they are putting her back in ICU, and this will be the third time sending her back to ICU. She had a perforated colon while there so had an operation for that, she is mentally confused and talks gibberish, which she never did before, her lungs are a mess, and he scan they said it looked like broken glass but she doesn't have Covid. I can't make heads or tails on what is happening to her.

Dablues, I'm so sorry to hear what is happening with your stepdaughter. It must be so frightening to see this in someone young. Were they talking about ground glass in her lungs?

Yes, they said the scan of her lungs looked like ground glass
