Hi
I’m here!
And happy to listen and share how I’m getting on
I’m doing really well these days
Visiting therapy is a must,do not be afraid to be honest ,to share and unload.
It is without doubt finding something to do that makes you happy.in doing so you are taking yourself completely out of your own head ,and into a new zone.
The crocheting does that for me.
I have super window boxes done too
I did them myself
There are so cheerful and make me happy to see them bloom💐💐
Find your own wee niche and go with it.
Or try to do some little thing for a neighbour or relation it. makes me happy to do it and they are so happy to receive
I have started to do online yoga...
Felt so awkward at the start but now I’m getting into it
I set aside a time every day to do it
It’s great
The walking has to be the best
Small steps (pardon the pun)
But I know I carry this anxiety with me
But I keep it at bay and far away
It needs to be worked at .
You will be well
Keep in touch
We are in this together 💕
Yes for 10 years or more I’ve been struggling really really bad, and it’s not getting any better. I really wish I wasn’t so afraid to take the medication, it’s really hard for a person who’s scared of medication, I honestly don’t know what to do
@shaleta30 As a confirmed "dig in my heels, I'm not taking any meds!" person I can really relate to your reticence to avoid medication for anxiety and depression. The only medication in my cabinet was Vitamin D3 so I get it...until life had other plans for me.
My wild ride dealing with aggressive leukemia and a bone marrow transplant launched me big time into the world of Big Pharma. My medical treatments, successful transplant and my remission from AML for 2 years so far, has left me a convert of "better living through chemistry". I truly would NOT be alive without the vast array of drugs that treated me and kept me going.
I'm looking at this from the perspective of; you've suffered for 10 years and have tried counseling and treatments. You're still suffering with seemingly no end in sight. You have the availability to use a medication which might give you a platform for recovery. There is no shame in using an aid for recovery and you may not have to use it forever. Often these anti anxiety meds are used to get the symptoms under control in conjunction with mediation or mindfulness exercises to help you long term.
What do you have to lose by taking something which may help you? What exactly are you afraid of?
Start with the smallest amount of the dosage possible My daughter was prescribed prozac. She barely tips the scales at 100 pounds. So she started out with liquid Prozac at 2mg and took months to work up to the 10 mg dosage. It changed her life along with some modification techniques I mentioned in a previous post to you.
I see @hearttoheart1 wrote a lovely response for you. She would be an amazing person to chat with.
We all want to see you on the road to recovery! It's doable! My friend @merpreb has also given you some excellent advice regarding taking medication for anxiety. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain, my dear.
Wishing you peace Lori
🥰🥰🥰thank you so much for taking the time out to speak with me, I’m definitely ready to try something different to help with this, for all these years I haven’t been ashamed to take medication, I’ve been Scared that it will make me feel worse, I read into the medication to much and all I could think of is it making me have suicidal thoughts so I’ve been scared of it. But at this point I’m tired of suffering and I want nothing but to feel better so that I can take care of my parents me
@shaleta30 May I ask what anxiety medication was prescribed for you? There are some that are better tolerated without significant side effects and also easier to taper off when needed.
I can relate to the anxiety caused by reading labels on these drugs! I don’t blindly take the meds I’m prescribed because knowledge is power. But truly, if I read every word of some of the meds I’m still taking, I’d be a ball of mush and scared to death too! I’ve had to do a sea-change on medications and look at them as a Quality of Life adjunct because they are keeping me FROM dying. I’m able to enjoy the life I do have right now for as long as I can because of them.
You’re worried you could feel worse while taking them. When I read this, my heart goes out to you because I think you’re suffering so much already. Take another try speaking to a good therapist. They may recommend a psychiatrist who will work with you to prescribe an anxiety med to suit your situation and help you feel comfortable with that decision.
This may help alleviate your fear of taking the pills. ☺️
Dear @shaleta30
I can sense the pain in your message and feel you need a big hug🥰
That being said 10 years is too long,1 year is too long
Let today be the day and let 2011 be the year
I actually look forward to getting my tablets into me,to help with dealing with this anxiety
But they will take a few weeks to “kick in’
You must be patient there is no quick fix
Therefore you must help yourself too.
Please do not waste another day in your sad cycle of torment which I totally understand
You must take control. no one can do it for you.
I did not want this anxiety and depression to define me.!
Please put you faith in your doctor
Visit your therapist
Make a plan for you every day to do something productive
Please keep in touch
And be kind to yourself
You so deserve that💕
And @loribmt ,you have been through so much .your spirit and zest for life is contagious.
You have and continue to support me too, for that I thank you dearly
Have a good positive day dear friends 💖
