Novalgin (Metamizol) alternative

Posted by heinrichxx @heinrichxx, May 30, 2021

Hello
My mother 92 years and 45kg (she also has renal insufficiency) receives
40 drops of Novalgin (Metamizol) in the morning and evening.
I notice that she has increased fatigue. This happens in waves. 30 tired then briefly awake and tired again. This is how it goes.
What is your opinion on this. Can it be due to the Novalgin, do you have alternatives. She is receiving the Novalgin for knee pain.
Thanks for your support

From what I've read there is not a lot of information available on side effects or adverse affects of Novalgin (Metamizol). I did find some information that mentions fatigue is a possibility but you would really need to discuss alternatives and your mothers symptoms with her doctor.

Are you able to discuss alternatives to your mothers medications with her doctor or pharmacist?

Hi John
Hope you are doing well. Yes that it is. I will discuss it but wanted to hear different opinions. Especially because I believe that he is not very on the dialogue side. Exactly fatigue correlates with the start of the medicament.
