Car care and your health: Same rules apply

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Apr 18, 2021

I saw this video produced by Mayo Clinic that really hit home with me and I'm sure it applies to most men and probably some women also! I have always been Johnny on the spot taking care of cars I've owned but not so good at taking care of my own health until the past few years when this old body is not running at 100%. Thanks for the reminder Mayo Clinic! How about you, do you pay attention to your body?

I’m ahead of that game being a retired nurse. Except for my back and associated symptoms I’m healthier than I’ve ever been.

Well I did all of those things and still ended up with a new valve job which failed and then had a heart transplant by the graces of my donor and Mayo Phoenix 15 months ago. Sticking with the analogy of care care, I now have a new engine which works great. Still I have the old exhaust system and catalytic converter which are not up to par, my upholstery is worn out, My struts and shock absorbers are shot, The frame is bent. All of that considered I am alive to complain about the little things.
Best always,

@glenner075, did you see the video in John's original post. See it here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/car-care-and-your-health-same-rules-apply/

The video asks and I ask you: Are you taking care of yourself as well as your car?

Great follow through on the analogy, Scott. I'm glad you're still on the road and coasting.
