@njpahl

I had a tibial plateau fracture back in October of 2020. I had horrible pain on the outside of my knee. They did not find the break on X-rays but discovered on MRI. I had a total knee done on 03/08/2021. I still have the burning on the outside of my knee. Today will be the 6th week mark from surgery. I can get my flexion to 127. I can get my extension to zero but this is after a lot of massage and usually only in PT. I see my doctor tomorrow and will ask him about the outside knee pain. PT and the PA keep saying IT band syndrome. If I can't get full extension tomorrow, they are talking about surgical manipulation.

@njpahl Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect, a place to give and get support.

It sounds like you have been put through the ringer.

Below I have linked another discussion you might find of interest where members @5rightkneesurgeries @joanna626 @autp17 @clvclv @mal492 @judybearden1 @jenniferhunter have previously discussed IT band syndrome after knee replacement. You may wish to scroll through the previous posts.

May I ask what surgical manipulation would look like and what kind of recovery would be expected?
