@kozlo52 and @tigreyes2004, I apologize for jumping into the middle of this thread and maybe this question has already been addressed, but in regards to your friend being on gabapentin, that seems like a massive dosage she's taking - how long has she been taking it, and has she told either her prescribing Dr or another one of her Drs about the memory loss, and if so, what did they say? I'm definitely interested bc I have been on Gabapentin for a year now, but only 300 mg, twice a day, and 100-200 mg once a day (so that's 700-800 mg total each day). I take it for many diagnoses, including pelvic floor dysfunction, IBS-C&D, Interstitial cystitis, and fibromyalgia, as a nerve relaxer to help with chronic pain that stems from all of those. I have also been on other meds like Cyclobenzaprine 5 mg (flexoril) (muscle relaxer) daily, and Oxybutinin 5 mg as needed for bladder spasms from the Interstitial cystitis. So, I was also wondering if your friend is taking any other meds that could either be the culprit of her memory loss, or ganging up with the gabapentin to cause her memory loss. I just turned 45, but have always had memory problems; my Dr says it's probably caused by stress; however, I definitely (as well as my family) have also noticed my memory getting worse since being on these various meds, so I was just curious to find out more about your friend, and if she has found anything out about her memory loss. As far as the weight gain goes while taking Gabapentin, I've actually lost weight since being on it. Because of my IBS and IC, I've had to be on the Low FODMAP diet as well as an IC diet (low to no acid diet), and so thankfully, the gabapentin hasn't gotten me there! I went from weighing 123 (I'm only 4'8"), to weighing 92 lbs. My Dr actually has me trying to gain now, so I believe at my last appointment I had gained a whopping 3 pounds, ha! Anyway, thank you for any more information that you can give me.

Hi I just wanted to tell you that I have ic and pelvic floor dysfunction too. I hate it. But I don't meet people who have it so hello there it felt strange coming across another person who might understand what I go through. Anyhow im 38 my memory problems were getting so bad, I couldn't remember what time my daughter took a nap, what we ate for dinner the night before. I never thought it could be from gabapentin. But well it was . I took gabapentin 900 mg a day for 8 and a half years. After I stopped I could remember things again. I felt relieved. Also im sorry u have ic, its been a hard life living with it

i have also tried the unsweetened apple cider with vinegar and it still bothers my throat and that is after my fundoplication, 3 dilations. my fundoplication is 1.5 years old. i still experience heartburn symptoms, with no help from antacids. I am getting an endoscopy today from my gastroenterologist today july12, 2018. I hope to know more about what is going on and why does drinking water make it seem worse.

it has been a while since we talked. I still have this horrible fundo. after lots of retesting, the results show no acid reflux. the esophagram showed that my wrap is still too tight because water hangs up and takea while to go thru. i have problems with drinking cold water necause it feels like i am burning. the same for cold "boost". my stomach empties. Al i know in the operating room writeups , it was noted twice i have a hyperactive esophagus. this means i will feel pain which feel like heartburn, but is not. it s the neuro reasponse of the nerves that are creating this pain. i am on atavan 3 times a day to help control this perceived pain. the AMA fix for hypersensitiv esophagus is hypnosis ( which failed on me and antidepressants (i.e. atavan). since the procedure i have put onabout 20 lbs and am holding there. i have also more recently developed a bad taste of all my food. nobody knows what this is. it is not covid-19 since i have been vaccinated fully with Pfizer vaccine. the other problem is i have trouble fasting. i still burn when i am trying to fast. i am going to go to a different thoracic surgeon to tell e what is wrong. i need to have my left artificial knee replaced so the best we canprobably do is to get another brvo 48 hr test to see if the wrap has loosened up. does anyone else out there have been diagnosed with a "hypersensitive esophagus"?..... best wishes.. kozlo52

yes, I stopped taking Omezoprol 20 mg about three + months ago first couple of week every other day and then three days and i stopped. Should not eat fried foods, coffee that has been made hours ago, consume to much meat, or eat to large a meal.

I have gastritis (type C: reactive gastropothy from taking NSAID) endoscopy showed mild but damage to stomach wall. Blood work is fine. Not much Gerd or acid reflux but dull ache in lower stomach and stingy pains occasionally. Prescribed Prilosec 6 weeks ago. At first 20 mg. Then with no improvement after 3 weeks 40 mg. I am now 5 weeks on 40 mg. I continue to have the dull ache in my stomach. Not much improvement. I am fatigued very easy in the afternoon and generally feel weak and sickly. I want to go off the omeprazole although I know I still have symptoms. I wonder if the achy stomach and fatigue is caused by the medicine. I am on a strict bland diet. I also drink alo vera each day, take a licorice supplement and a garlic supplement and drink chamomile ginger tea each night. Should I stop the Prilosec or wean off of it despite the ongoing ache? Appreciate any response.

I have chronic gastritis and had a ulcer from nsaid. I had H pylori too. I take 40mg of pantaprazole 1/2 hr before supper and have no pain at all. I adhere to a strict low acid diet. I think gastritis is here for good.

Is pantaprazole a ppi? You are free of pain all day or just after supper? If you are pain free why do you say it is here for good?

I have chronic gastritis and Esphogitis, Class B GERD and a small Hiatal Hernia . I belch over 3000 x a day/ night . I eat so healthy and avoid all trigger foods . The constant non stop churning in my gut and deep wet burps cause fatigue and sometimes kick up my heart palps .
Ive tried everything RX wise , PPI , holistic approaches , elimination diets . Seen 5 Gastro Dr’s , had every test run / still here I am 7.5 years later now taking antidepressant and anxiety med( as needed ). It’s ruined my life for most of my 50s . I have televisit w/ Gastro Dr at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville in September .
So far I’m a medical mystery, and I hate it . I live in Ultra Pepto daily . I would wean off the PPI @nightingale1998 . If anyone else is going through what I am , can you let me know ? I’m desperate!! Thanks Rosemary

Pantaprzole is a PPI. I'm pain free all day with no symptoms. After every EGD I'm told I have chronic gastritis. It just won't go away.
